I saw this on slashdot, and figured it may behoove a few of you to read <a href='http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/03/18/BUGURBP6N353.DTL&type=tech' target='_blank'>this</a> article. If you still think the free ipod deal isn't a scam, well, then I guess there's really nothing that I can say.

Snipplet:

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->It also doesn't say that Incentive Reward Center is in fact a Florida business entity called Theuseful.com, which is in fact a fictitious business name registered by another Florida business entity called NiuTech.

As for NiuTech, the Better Business Bureau says the company has an "unsatisfactory record ... due to unanswered complaints concerning advertising and delivery issues."

Eddie Anazagasty, a spokesman for the Better Business Bureau, said 177 complaints against NiuTech have been lodged by consumers during the past three years over difficulties in obtaining promised goods like iPods and laptop computers.

"That's a lot," he said. "And the company hasn't responded to us. Those aren't good signs." <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

There's still people that have to be convinced it's a scam?

Yeah, I thought this was settled a long time ago. Classic pyramid scheme.

Oh, and edit: This article is actually about one of the seedier online marketing scams which are just flat-out scams for everyone involved. Not a pyramid scheme. That's what got the ball rolling, though.

Well, its different from a pyramid scheme in so much that its legal.

It's legal as long as they send you the merchandise, or their "equivalent", heh. Judging from all the complaints, though, they screw a lot of people. No surprise there.

No guys, it's totally legit, I got my ipod just yesterday. Then I hopped on my magic carpet and flew to a land of neverending dreams and happyness. To make the trip shorter I listened to some vertigo.

Well I think this was talking about the shady one. The one that delivers is by a Washington, D.C., company called Gratis Internet.
