<div class="IPBDescription">.plans on ns world</div>In my role as <a href="http://www24.brinkster.com/mattrye/NSWorld/Main.ASP" target="_blank">NS World</a>s web developer i've been brainstorming. Would you map authors use a 'developer diary' feature if I built it into NS World?
You would be able to make daily entires about the progress of you maps and other developments. The diary would be viewable to the public though your author information.
I often find myself wondering how far <i>Y</i> has got though making map <i>X</i>.
I hope this isn't too off-topic <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

This is however a completely off-ground question as long as NS world doesn't support the Opera browser - I've banned IE from my HD.
Developer-wise IE really is the best thing out there.
Sadly NS-World does require some JavaScript to function and Opera just doesn't do JavaScript.
Why'd you ban IE?
After comparing the infos IE dishes out to everyone who can use a scrpit (they even got the PHONENUMBER of my ISP) compared to the five lines Opera reports, I didn't really have a hard time deciding.
Everyone hates the MS monopoly policy - so let's change something.
In the .Plan Debate: I'm impartial as I don't map, but it would be interesting to see how the mappers are progressing.
Hmmm...
As far as browsers go, Opera *does* do Java script. I just looked at some nice maps on NS world in Opera, and I'm replying to this topic in Opera, just to show I can <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo--> In fact, Opera can have Java from when you install it, whereas IE *doesn't*
The only problem I've had with Opera is not being able to play microsoft video files, view microsoft sites (only because the site says I "dont meet the system requirements" -- a load of poo, if I make Opera identify itself as IE, it works fine.), and occasional dificulties such as colors showing up differently (but not necessarily worse) than on IE, and some scripts (some forums, mainly) having weird margins.
Anyway, .plans for mappers = good, Opera = good, IE = ok. It certainly is disgusting how little security there is on IE.

[UPDATE: The only problem I've found with Opera on NS world is the drop-down bar, because it doesnt automatically go to the site when you select it. A "Go!" button would remedy this.]
If you have any thoughts on what form these diaries/plans/progress should take describe them here and we'll see what people like best.

or maybe not...
I have spent a couple of hours on this already and i'm making no headway. I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the hassle...

[edit]
I just made a breakthough that allows the dropdown work in Opera <i>without</i> requiring a go button. I'll add it to the live system tonight. Pity the same technique won't work for the feeback voting...
[/edit]
[edit]
The dropdown is now working on the live NS World in Opera
and the feedback buttons will work next time I do a major update, whenever that is...

i know that i would write something in it at least every two weeks sometimes more. and it would encourage me to post more screen shots then i do now
