Seriously, even in the future +duck will make your hitbox smaller, since the fade model will be smaller anyway. The hitbox just won't be as small as right now. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Oh yes, holding duck while blikning down a corridor away from marines is a skill we must all master. How does the difficulty (or the ease) of using +duck as a Fade determine its status as an exploit? Swiftspear stated that the +duck bug is a difficult procedure to master, as if this somehow nullifies its status as an exploit. Other users said the opposite, that +duck is an easy exploit to master, so everyone should use it (thereby removing its status as an exploit). Neither argument makes sense.
The methods used to execute the exploit aren't essential in determining whether the end result is an exploit or not. Gamers have had this discussion before on previous exploits, and for some reason the same old tired rationalizations keep returning for each new bug.
I never really think about the fact that ducking fades are unusually difficult to hit (which probably means I miss them a lot), but I duck a lot as fade anyway, especially while blinking. Basically, as either Fade, or as a JP, I'm ducking <i>constantly</i> whenever I'm not on the ground...and its not particularly hard to do, until I've been playing long enough that my pinky finger gets tired of holding down the duck button.
Ducking while flying (either blink flying, or JP flying) is important for two reasons--1: Even besides the strange hitbox/model discontinuity, ducking always makes you a smaller target and therefore extends your lifespan. And 2: When trying to maneuver past objects while flying (buildings, other players, map features, whatever), you are far less likely to hit something and get stuck if you are ducking and therefore half the size.
Therefore, while I would love to have the devs fix the hitbox/model discontinuity, I am not going to give up the 2 legitimate benefits of blink ducking simply because there is a 3rd, arguably illegitamate benefit that comes along with it.
On ns_tanith we had a fade in our base taking out our elec TF (dont ask). We had 3 guys sitting up top near the CC. The fade pounded away while we proceded to expend all our ammo (lvl 3 hmgs). It was ducking right behind the TF (we were looking straight on) and all of our bullets went through. I know they went through because I took my pistol and shot it right in the chest and there was no blood. I then proceded to walk around the TF and shot it in the foot and it died immediatly with noticable blood on the floor.
Whether exploit or bugged hitbox, this needs fixing. (I'm sure it's being worked on. I have faith in the NS team. Just tell us what the BUS is!!)
