<div class="IPBDescription">They can barely be called covers.</div> <a href='http://www.doomworld.com/linguica/doomcovers/' target='_blank'>http://www.doomworld.com/linguica/doomcovers/</a>

I don't know if this is ye olde or not, but in 95% of the cases, the resemblance is uncanny. Just found this tonight. Veeeeery interesting.

yeah.. 2 of them are very similar..but than..

what are 2 seconds of a instrumental sequence with common play techniques on that instrument proving?

its like taking a half sentence out of some bestselling book, and saying..omg.. this guy took that out of the bible....

It is fairly ye olde, but still interesting. The funny thing is that Robert "Bobby" Prince (the guy responsible for the music) has always aggressively persued sites that had his various General MIDI scores online. From what I can remember about the Doom score, Romero and others at ID gave Prince some tapes with various hard rock and metal music and said "Do something like this". Guess he took it literally.

For future referance you can't acctually copywrite a loop (at least not under international law, RIAA I belive is pursuing a few cases to this regard)

Some of them are so close it really makes you wonder though.

Well, Elastica ran into a lawsuit based on a lead guitar riff/rhythm, and ended up paying off the no-name punk band that brought it up... I believe it was from 'Connection'.

It is old, and I can't believe it's not huge new. There's this mp3 called "bobby prince is a filthy thief" floating around, except that Google returns zero links to it. I think Doomeh posted it. Let's see if I can find it...

...whoops. If I'd bothered to click your link I'd see I don't need to.

I hadn't heard the whole of any of the originals until I went away with a few friends and one of them played Them Bones. Bloody wierd to know exactly how the song goes the first time you hear it. It's a pity, not the least of which because the original versions absolutely pwn the Doom ripoffs.

Well... the original DOS mode music wasn't midi and didn't sound too bad. Midis always sound like crap; the midi versions of the Doom music aren't as good as hearing the "originals" out of a(n emulated) Soundblaster.

Remember me at all anybody? lol

Alice in Chains have some songs that sound exactly like Doom midis....

I'm sure they did some music for Doom.

Speaking about Doom...D3 could of used a better soundtrack. Ambient is nice, but I wanted to hear some rock out loud stuff when blasting imps lol.

    Uh....

I always thought E1M1 was Behind The Crooked Cross by Slayer IIRC (The name escapes me though so I could be wrong.)

You think it's possible to replace the pak music files with a selection of your own?

I know for WoW you can do it, just rename the files and put in some Guardian Heros music haha.

THAT SONG'S ON THE AMERICAN STREET FIGHTER II MOVIE SOUNDTRACK!!!!

They don't sell the actual soundtrack but they use that song in the movie.

EDIT: Now I can link two of my favorite things, Street Fighter and Doom. Even though that's sorta not good for Doom. Meh, I'll take what I can get :P

Woo, i've been wondering if someone had created a more completed list than mine of Doom's stolen music, most of the ones i already knew of were the Pantera ones. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
