Natural Selection Freezes On Exit

Hey all. The problem I'm having with NS is ALMOST everytime I exit ns by either typing exit in console or exiting manually, the game freezes. I either have to do alt-ctrl-del to open the task manager and close NS or sometimes restart my computer with the reset button on my tower (sometimes NS takes priority over the task manager and doesn't allow me to view it)

I have a feeling I will be asked for my specs so here they are.

P4 3.0Ghz
1024 MB ram
ATI radeon 9800 pro (catalyst 5.2)
Sound blaster audigy ls
Windows xp sp2

Any ideas what the problem is?
