...but who would want to remove Firefox?

I noticed an autoupdate popup about this earlier today. It's the first time I see Firefox's autoupdate feature actually work <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    What add/remove bug?

There is a bug that's been around for some time that keeps previous Firefox version entries in the Add/Remove dialog when a new update is installed. Currently on my computer in the Add/Remove dialog I have

    Mozilla Firefox
    Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1
    Mozilla Firefox 1.0.2

because I didn't uninstall the previous versions before installing the new. This isn't to say that I have multiple versions of Firefox running: if I remove 1.0.1 from the list via Add/Remove, it removes <b>all</b> versions of Firefox.

There is a simple registry key entry removal required to delete the older versions.

Also, with the release of Firefox 1.0.2, comes Thunderbird 1.0.2!

    <a href='http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.0.2-release-notes.html' target='_blank'>http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbir...ease-notes.html</a>

    Fixed in Thunderbird 1.0.2

MFSA 2005-30 GIF heap overflow parsing Netscape extension 2
MFSA 2005-25 Image drag and drop executable spoofing
MFSA 2005-21 Overwrite arbitrary files downloading .lnk twice
MFSA 2005-18 Memory overwrite in string library
MFSA 2005-17 Install source spoofing with user:pass@host
MFSA 2005-15 Heap overflow possible in UTF8 to Unicode conversion

    Improved Stability

This too will likely add an extra entry in the Add/Remove Programs dialog.

TweakUI for has a ui based way to remove things from the add/remove panel too, so if you don't wanna be bothered w/ digging in the registry it can work too.

Here, let me help you with that:

Thanks. I've successfully removed the entries in the past; it's just that I shouldn't <b>have</b> to. It makes it much more difficult for a normal computer user to become attracted to the program when simple things like Add/Remove Programs entries don't delete themselves. Sure, there are more important things that can be repaired in Firefox; but it's the minute stuff that gets to people.
