I'm screwed. This thread, combined with great reviews and another run through WC3 has convinced me to get WoW instead of GW...
The only thing I'm worried about is the complexity of the interface. I know GW is relatively simple compared with other MMORPGs, but I can still get rushed trying to hit all the buttons. Will WoW's interface stump me and my barbarous shooter ways?

The WoW GUI has a zillion buttons so I suppose the combat must be rather slowpaced if you're going to click all those things. Therefor I doubt you'll be overwhelmed, Tommy.
WoW's UI is only as hard as you want it to be. Personally I move with WSAD and use the 1-6 buttons on top to cast spells. My less frequently used spells go on sidebars and I manually click.
if you dont want to be overwhelmed play a pally you hit under 5 buttons in every fight until you use trinkets and crap.
Lets see i use 1 to attack 2 to use Seal of command 8 to stun 7 to holyshock 9 to use rammsteins lightning bolts. - to cleanse and = to heal and i click my immunes :X
my mage uses about 6 already. Since he is low I open with 2 arcane missiles, Frost nova to snare, depending on life I throw some arcane explosions and fireblast. if they run I cast a firebolt.

To be honest WoW's combat runs at about twice the speed of guildwars buuuut it depends on the class. Paladin is about as close as you get to guildwars in that you barely do much at all
Most of the buttons are just there for stuff you might reach for when you have the space to really do anything; for example flamestrike has a 3 second casting time and that's the thingy next to the shield. If you can click that then there's probably nobody attacking you or you've got Presence of Mind ^^;
I never heard anyone say that WOW's interface was hard to use
My mage uses about the same qauntity of buttons that Commie uses. though i start off with a Fireball-Blast-FrostNova-Arcane-Blast-Scorch-Scorch-Scorch (or arcane explosion if its a larger group than one

Hunters have the most micromanagement if you play them right, because you have to have your pet grabbing aggro and holding it while you use your various shots and stings. It gets hectic if you fight 3 or more enemies, a hunter can get into a fight with 5 slightly underleveled (-2 to 3 levels) NPCs and come out on top if you play it smart with good gear. No group invites though

You really should've played with us NSers who had fun with GW instead of run of on your own doing wacky things. Esuna did that, and have you seen how emotionally scarred he became?
I'm still waiting for a free trial for WoW though.
WoW had two 2 week+ long free trials. And two more one week ones. Open betas and stress tests. How did you miss them? I refused to play WoW for the stress tests and STILL managed to try open beta. Don't whine for a trial.

EDIT; I tried to get in for one of the tests I think, but I suck at lying so I wasn't accepted on the grounds of not having enough experience.
align, I've actually played both games so I don't exactly talk from a point of 'ignorance' ; I find GW much less involved that WoW, infact you actually do even less as a necro in GW than you do as a paladin in WoW (raise undead army, stomp over badguys, ohno hard one! draaaaaain it till it's dead, re-raise undead army, stomp over badguys while filing nails, etc). I did try other classes though and they all felt relatively samey when it comes down to the basics whether I was playing monk/ranger, necro/mezzer, warrior/elementalist or whatever :/
As for 'running off and doing weird stuff' how do you think I bumped into this community in the first place? ^~ Finding people to have fun with in online games is easy; however GW ITSELF bored me. I did find fun lil groups and even yanked a few from other games in but the coop stuff just didn't excite me in the end, the PvP had novelty for the first 30 matches that drastically vanished as repetition set in (I'd often find myself laying waste to over half the opposing team without much drama), the interface is about as fun as eating liquid poop and the world feels too 'chopped up' and 'bitty' rather than a coherent environment with depth and character :s
As for spells that you use when you're not getting attacked in WoW; not every fight will involve you being beaten from start to finish (Unless you're a really good tank :p). In PvE you can usually get a warrior to take the flak while you sit a little back building up a slow spell and in mass PVP the casters can sit at the back row throwing artillery-like spells across at the enemy while the melees clash between them (and rogues pop up amongst them to cause havoc XD ).
I'd just like to note that the presence of mind thing was a bit of a joke. Apart from that, it's clear that it depends utterly on whether you like it or not to begin with. I find GW more hectic than most FPS games for chrissakes.
oh you were talking about presence of mind? lol sorry ^^;
fair enough though, I just didn't find it very hectic at all :3 I get rather anti-GW a lot because I was really, really looking forward to it and when I finally got to play it, it just wasn't the game I'd hoped for. A lot of people find it fun though I guess and good for them; it's just not my thing
