For people playing multiplayer games, there will not be any visible difference while we're conducting the beta, but we will be logging cheating violations into our database to make sure it's ready for general release. This will be the last public notice before the system is released and active for everyone.

If you have any cheats for multiplayer games installed on your computer, now would be a good time to uninstall and stop using them. When a cheat infraction is detected, the offender will be permanently banned from playing on secure servers.

Topic Title says anything: Will VAC2 work with games from my 3d party list?

Knowing VALVe's current record with continued HL1 support, I'd say a 10-35% chance we will EVER get a VAC for NS.

we will probably have to wait for ns:source (whenever that will happen)

No chance. VAC2 will probably only be conducted on CS:S and HL2DM. Valve official products only, as they have for Half-Life 1.

You might be able to make it work in NS, but no way in hell valve will spend a tiny bit of their time traking down NS-specific cheats and block them.

Remember when Dod got VAC and wasn't commercial yet? Valve didn't give a **** about dod, and the VAC never caught anything that was dod-specific.

Uh...how do you figure, according to their record?

They've been patching and fixing a game and game engine for 6 years- thats longer than most MMO's to date.

As to it: I too doubt it.

The only other game that has had the kind of support is Total Annihilation. And even then, it was a community support. Cavedog stopped doing updates for TA years ago, but yet, there are still units, and maps etc, that I haven't yet tried, because half of them look badly done, and I just can't be bothered with TA anymore...

I can't see there being VAC support it NS either. Unless Valve decide to go all CS on us, and buy NS for their own...

    VAC 2 is for the source engine and Valve's supported games only. That's Half-Life 2, CS:S, HL2DM, and DOD:S.

Supposedly this incarnation of VAC would allow support for community based engine add-ons like HLamp.
