The only thing I can think about regarding that muzzle flash thing is that you set "interp 0" instead of "ex_interp 0". "Interp" decides whether or not client interpolarisation is on or off totally, if you turn it off strange things happen, such as the muzleflash refusing to go away. Check if this is the case, and if it is, set interp to 1, and dont touch it anymore. Ex_interp is the value you want to tamper with.
first mp_blockscripts. Now maybe we need mp_fixrate ????
I set my rates to: rate 20000 fps_max 60 cl_updaterate 60 cl_cmdrate 60 and then ex_interp 0
I have a 1 mbit connection. Then I joined some servers and ALL players were just teleporting around. How can that be, or why is that? Did I something wrong? It seems no I can´t hit anything anymore.
From what I've read in previous posts (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong), whats happening is that you are now seeing what is really happening. So those players were always teleporting, but you just didn't see it. Instead, your HL smoothed out their motion by drawing them in between teleports.
But you have now turned off the smoothing out, allowing you to see where they really are. It looks worse visually, but it will actually improve your aim once you get used to it (if you can get used to it...), as those teleport-like positions are where you have to actually shoot in order to hit anyone.

However, when I tested it yesterday, I was able to go on a server and (maybe apparently) change it, down to a value of 1000 [bytes/second sent to the server]. It looked like it worked, because there were slight changes in my ping when I changed the values of cl_rate. So maybe one of the HL updates or something else screwed up the lock ? Or it wasn't considered exploitive anymore and removed ? I think this should be locked back to 9999. :/
Using a demo program (Geekplayer/SK Player, I believe) you can see some of the config data from every player.
After the game, we found out:
1 Spaniard had "rate 25000" "cl_updaterate 10" "cl_cmdrate 10"
and another had "rate 10000" "cl_updaterate 15" "cl_cmdrate 15"
It amuses me how a Spaniard on any server seems to have a ping that wanders between 50-200ms; where as I can join a Spanish server and keep my sub-100ms ping.
I think now I know why
(Also bear in mind that I'm English, and the UK has some of the crappiest phone wiring in the world. We still use some old skool copper wires AFAIK)
Youd be suprised on how many ppl in the clan scene use dodgy rates, but even still, could you please edit the clan in question out of your post. Even though their from "that" country, no point in bashing on them. ;I
yeah, so damn annoying when people on broadband have there rates that low, if i was an admin i would auto ban people like that, they obviously do it on purpose to try gain an advantage.
oh and sorry, i didnt know setting ex_interp to 0 makes it adjust to your other settings

How can his rates be too low for an interp of 0? Ex_interp 0 sets your ex_interp automatically to the value of 1/cl_updaterate.
