<div class="IPBDescription">MMO car/infantry battle kind of thingey</div> <a href='http://www.autoassault.com/' target='_blank'>Auto Assault</a>, as linked by Redfrood on IRC. I do hope I get in. At the very least it seems to use a original concept(for a MMO).
That seriously looks nice, but I doubt I can run it. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

How much for another scam? Way to pay 245 dollars US for level 60, chuuuuuuummmmmm-p.
Unless, of course, there are no levels and experiance points... but otherwise, it seems like it's just another PlanetSide. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Paying for server maint. and new features, sure. Im down wit that. It's the paying for the LEVELS and paying to have fun i dont agree with.
How much money do you have to shell out before you reach and access a high character level, the good equipment, and new areas? <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Way to pay 245 dollars US for level 60</b>, chuuuuuuummmmmm-p<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
THIS is what i dislike about every MMOG out there. THIS is what is wrong with game design. THIS is what makes a game un-fun. Sitting in front of the computer screen trying to gain enough "Levels" to get access to that new and better armor, or that shiney new gun. You make as well punch in your credit card number to get access to it, because you're going to have to spend money to get levels, to get the gun...
Instead of paying money to maintain the server, all the while you use the gun and the armor to frag some of your homies.

You obviously have no grasp on the modern MMO.
For example: The funnest moments in WoW are spent doing Instances, or Raids. The best times in FFXI are that of missions. The best time I had in CoH was doing missions. Same with questing in EQ2.
I mean sure, its great to level up and get that next piece of armor and the such, but man, some of us LIKE those stats. If you don't like stats-based gaming, fine, but don't diss us for it. Hell, even the famous Deslock(of D&D and many other game's fame) said so in the newest issue of PCG.

Anyone who thinks that the girl on that page isn't at least /cute/ (Or could be if she were real) is very strange.
I like to look at big numbers. Big numbers are big and nice, and numbers ballance the game. But trying to aquire a big number can be a equally BIG pain in the a** if it isn't designed correctly... Which just happens to be 95% of the time. Most games exp level scale is made incorrectly, to the point where you <i>need</i> to spend hours killing nameless, brainless enemies.
1 billion exp for a total level of 100 can give a good feeling of accomplishing something. But what if it was 1 billion exp for a total level of 50, with 50 more levels left to go? And when you reach level 50, there's nothing left to do? What if when you reach level 30, there's nothing left to do?! And if you have to keep doing the best possible thing you can do, over and over? (mephisto runs to get equiment in Diablo 2; Baal runs to get masses of experiance for advancement)
You have the main town on the coastline. The farther you go into the middle of the island, the bigger your numbers will get. Ok, that's fun. But what happens when you find a GAP in the numbers, a point where it goes flat for a while. Think of a line graph. The higher it goes, the higher the level, over time. <img src='http://img130.exs.cx/img130/4880/chart3uu.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' /> (Character Advancement Chart: Level on the Y axis, Time on the X axis; assume that every PIXEL on the Y axis is also different enemy... i new enemy for every level.)
- Some games use the Yellow line; a quick and direct route to the maximum level. You fight lots of different enemies, and advance quickly. Few MMOGs fall here. - Some games use the Green line; a slow begining, but that quickly picks up later on. Some MMOGs fall here. - Some games use the Red line; a stop-go pattern of character advancement. Players get stuck fighting one type of enemy for a while. This causes boredom and my general disrespect towards MMOGs. Most MMOGs fall here.
In a post-apoc. enviroment, we can assume that resources will be scarce, enemies will be plentiful, and that the powerful will always win. So, it falls between a Green line and a Red line, with a Yellow line somewhere at the start.
mav... I've got this crazy idea... how about you actually enter the FREE beta and try the game we all know zilch about instead of trying to make wild guesses based off little more than 'its an apocolyptic MMO' huh? :p
"hey guys I've got this idea for a game!" "a game? pfff I won't like that because it has pixels and therefore because it has pixels it'll play like ridge racer 50"

GL getting in though.
That IS original...
