What, you think I was going to go around telling people I was the psychic? I get that it is a smart idea. It's just that, why didn't you just have I'm Lost act as the frontman then? I don't understand how you're any better off now, than if you had put I'm Lost as the person contacting everyone and you as the person who was the actual psychic and never revealed yourself to anyone. Then if you wanted to pull the same stunt, you could reveal yourself now, like you are, and you would still be safe from wolfing. I mean they can't wolf someone who admits in public or so I understand it to be. (Though that's the same cover that Talesin is running, and I still don't know about that.)
Either way, you would have been safe right? The only thing this serves to do is incriminate anyone who chooses not to believe you.
I'm new to this game, so I could be missing an important point here. But I really don't see how it's any different. Look pm me or something if you want. Just watch out my inbox is nearly full. (It always is, , I don't delete stuff easily...)

Meh, no need to pm, I'll just say it here: I didn't trust anyone. I was contemplating getting someone else to act as my frontman, but thank god I didn't, because my first choice would have been nem0 (that riddle about oedipus was as close as I got to telling anyone). Then I figured that Isamil's strategy from last game of pretending to be his own contact worked nicely. Of course, he had a second guy pretending to have contact with this mysterious psychic behind the scenes, so my situation was a little different....
Oh and also, doing the math I realized that either today or tomorrow I would run out of people I could supposedly be "in contact with". I am the psychic, Talesin is the seer's flunky, so that means one of the other humans is the seer. That leaves 2 humans who could possibly be the psychic, according to my story. Someone eventually would have pointed that out, and I figured it was better to tell the truth now while unpressured rather than tell it later and have it look like I'm just trying to get myself out of a bad position.
And someone hunt down Hellfire....
Bravo Sky, you seem to have planned all this out perfectly. Of course, this could all be a massive ruse, but to me it is starting to feel like you lot are telling the truth. Sure, you could have faked all this info, with the pms and that, but i doubt it. I'll still occupy my position on the fence, however. This day could go either way and i don't want to muddle the waters with another vote.
Well as long as Hellfire is afk there's no chance of an instalynch anyway, so speed is, once again, not really an issue.

The intercom crackles to life, static hissing in and out due to the interference from the other ship, though Talesin's voice is still recognizable. "All hands, please report to the briefing room. Today's SEER report is ready."
-------

QUOTE

The briefing room is almost unchanged, with Talesin sitting at the head once more... his pristine whites marred by a few ominous small reddish brown spots. He again waits until everyone is present, before he stands, clearing his throat. "It would appear that I have seen through the night. Either the formtakers saw fit to take Snidely for their own reasons, or I was too visible a target. Also, I would thank our new security personnel. The faith displayed does them credit. Most unfortunately, he was one of the other two confirmed humans, who chose to remain anonymous, as he had been in contact with NemesisZero, and by extension, the formtakers. He had also divulged to me that yesterday, he had contacted Cold Nite, claiming to be the seer. He received a rather... unbalanced reply. Cold's sample has not yet been run through the SEER device as of yet, but has been bumped in priority to tonight. I can provide logs of the communications for those who desire evidence."
Talesin turns, adjusting his glasses and tapping a button, the room lights dimming slightly as the screen springs to life. "To business, so you have something to mull while I ramble afterward. The SEER unit has finished running another sample. This time, it was that of a human. He has been contacted. At this point, we cannot afford the luxury of anonymity, as it was brought up that a Wolf could easily masquerade as my successor, and sow dissent." The data is run, and the new set overlaid... this time with none of the red boxes from before. The personnel profile comes up... TheMuffinMan. "TMM is a verified human, and will be my successor in case I do not see tomorrow. He has been informed as to who the Seer is, and can pick up if I fall."
The lights shift back to full bright, and Talesin nods curtly. "There is additional good news. Last night I was contacted anonymously by the individual who owns the motion-tracker, then by a representative... Sky. Who are apparently one and the same. He has confirmed that the number of non-human lifeforms on this vessel has decreased by one. This contact was established shortly after the termination of the formtaker masquerading as NemesisZero."
He steps to the side and starts to pace slowly. "As I said yesterday, I will sacrifice myself tonight, if it is the will of the crew. The two other confirmed humans both know who the Seer is, and so can continue in my stead, should it be neccessary. Again, TheMuffinMan is to be my immediate successor, with the other human picking up if he dies." He stops in front of the table for a long moment, arms crossed behind his back, before he nods curtly and sits. "Since the only other confirmed formtaker at the moment is SwiftSpear, I suggest that we at least confine, if not take more drastic measures to put an end to this. I'm sure we've all seen what happens when an alien lifeform is 'preserved for future study', as with the casefile on the USCSS Nostromo."

Yep, that's right. I was contacted by the seer a while ago, and have been working with him and Talesin, among others, for some time.
At this point, it is pretty damned obvious who i am going to vote for. Swiftspear, i won't vote for you yet, as i do not want to help cause an instalynch. Know that you are a marked wolf, however, and will be leaving at the end of the day.
I might as well include a pm between me and swiftspear, just for good measure. In short, he talks about how Sky and Talesin are both wolves, and how he is just an innocent human.

<SwiftSpear> maby? <TheMuffinMan> perhaps <SwiftSpear> maby mantrid? <TheMuffinMan> and i reckon that bruce was a wolf <SwiftSpear> I am really still kind of confused <SwiftSpear> I think so too... <TheMuffinMan> so that leaves three <TheMuffinMan> talesin, sky and ?? For anyone who has yet to vote, please refrain from voting for swiftspear at this moment in time. We are one vote away from an instalynch, and that does nothing at all to help us. Any instalynch will be viewed by me, as well as others, as a very suspect move on your behalf.
There are only two people who haven't voted, you and Hellfire. And I don't think you have to worry about Hellfire voting.
Well, I can't vote if I don't want to instalynch. I mean, Talesin said that Nem and Swift were wolves, and since, apparently, Nem WAS wolf, I'm inclined to vote for Swiftspear.
Well I don't know what to say. I'm not surprised that Talesin and Sky are working together. I'll just have to leave things as they are. I don't see that I have much choice.
It is now night six, no posting!
Hellfire3k had become bad company. Mantrid hadn't planned on leaving the hideout more than he had to, but the pistol in his pocket reassured him, and he desperately needed to get away from the silently brooding Hellfire3k. The corridors were brightly lit as always, but that did nothing to allay Mantrid's gloom. But as he neared the machine room, something caught his eyes: Attached to a crossbeam, he found an explosive charge, rigged with a remote detonator. It was well hidden, and he had only noticed it because he was looking around carefully wherever he went to avoid being ambushed - if he had been passing through normally, he would have missed it. He did not dare to touch it for fear of setting it off. As he considered it, something in his head seemed to shift into place, and a thought dawned upon him. He checked other crossbeams, and found charges in all the right locations. Spending all that time studying ship diagrams - he had only done it to keep himself occupied in the tiny hideout, but now it actually paid off. He headed for the machine room.
Hellfire3k had left the hideout shortly after Mantrid did. He didn't want to stay there alone - if he would doze off, he might never wake up again without someone to watch his back. So he had grabbed the rifle and crawled out. He still didn't have a plan on what to do next, but he figured that he would do something. He saw Sky coming down the corridor towards him, and was of half a mind to raise a hand in greeting. He never got that far though - instead he froze as he found himself staring down the barrel of a gun that Sky had pulled from his pocket. "Give me a reason to trust you" Sky said in a calm but cold voice. Hellfire3k considered his options with the swiftness of a man well aware that his life was at stake. He had the rifle slung over his shoulder - he would never be able to bring it to bear in time. Sky stayed a few paces away from him, out of reach, so lunging for him was no option either. And the look in his eyes left no doubt as to what fate awaited Hellfire3k if he could not satisfy the demand being made of him. After what had seemed to him like several minutes, Hellfire3k spoke: "I can't." Sky's expression did not betray any emotion, but the gun never wavered. Hellfire3k closed his eyes. But the bullet never came. When he reopened his eyes, he found that Sky had lowered the gun, although he still kept both hands on it. "That's an honest answer, at least." A wave of relief washed over Hellfire3k. Apparrently, he had managed to pass whatever test Sky had put him to. He allowed his body to relax. "Snidely is dead, you know. I saw one of the formtakers. I have no idea why I am still alive, but I am determined to hunt those monsters down. Through any means necessary. And two armed men are worth more than one. Come on, I have people that I need to, shall we say, have a little chat with."
"Maybe it would be safer to blow the charges now. At least we would be safe. The longer we delay, the smaller our chance of survival becomes." Swiftspear was in the machine room with Pulse, trying to convince him. "No way. It's too early for that. I don't want to scuttle this ship unless we absolutely have to. and we'd be killing innocent people as well. People who have b-- who are our friends! I am not prepared to do that." "NEITHER AM I!" bellowed a voice. Mantrid was standing in the door, pistol in hand, pointing it somewhere between the two. "What the hell are you two up to? Trying to save your own hides at the expense of everyone else, you bastards?" Swiftspear raised his hands in defense, palms toward Mantrid. "Not at all. Please, you getting it wrong. Allow me to explain..." And he brought the palm of his hand down on the nearby console. In response, the heavy bulkhead door to the machine room came crashing down, narrowly missing Mantrid as he dodged away. Pulse and Swiftspear bolted in seperate directions, dogged by Mantrid's gunfire. "STOP FIRING!" Swiftspear yelled from where he had taken cover behind the FTL drive core. Pulse could see neither Mantrid nor Swiftspear, but he could hear their exchange. "If you damage the drive core and it leaks, you'll blow up the whole ship!" Mantrid all but chuckled when he responded: "Oh please, Swiftspear. You may be the resident expert, but I'm not stupid. That core is impervious to anything below 20mm. The only one at risk here is you." Pulse could not see Mantrid as he maneuvered his way around the drive core, but when he heard the gunshot and the unmistakable thud of a body falling to the floor, he knew that Swiftspear was dead.
I will need PMs from the guardian (if alive), seer (if alive) and any remaining formtakers before we advance to day six.
Day six will begin on monday, the 18th of April, 20:00 GMT.
It is now day six post away.
brute force and Cold NiTe were in the medical quarters, watching Talesin work on a pair of injectors. As he sat there with has back turned, he explained: "These capsules might, in the end, be our best shot at getting out of this alive. I gave half of the ones I had to im lost, and they disappeared together with him. Rather than risk losing them all, I'm spreading them out across as many people as I can, starting with you two. But the capsules are worthless without a suitable injector, so I'm modifying these two for you. They should still work normally, so if you can, go for a direct injection. But if that is not viable, just spray with them. You won't kill a formtaker that way, but you could gain a crucial advantage in a fight." brute force had to suppress a chuckle. "I already HAVE a crucial advantage," he said, imitating a pistol with his thumb, index and middle finger. Talesin turned around in his chair. "But one that kills indiscriminately. This mixture is harmless to humans, remember? I would prefer if you would use it instead of your gun - I don't want even more humans killed by their own kind." He turned back to his work. "I just wish we hadn't lost all those vials." "Don't worry, they're not lost." TheMuffinMan came in through the door. "I thought I might find you here. How thoughtful of you - is one of those injectors for me? I found im lost's body you know - and the vials. One of them was broken, but the others are fine." "No, these injectors are not for you," said Talesin without even turning around to acknowledge TheMuffinMan's presence, "but I'll modify one for you as well when I'm done with this one. Let's share those vials you have among us though."
When Pulse heard Swiftspear being killed, he knew that Mantrid was not going to let him live. His only chance of survival was escape. He bolted for the door of the machine room, bullets ricocheting around him. "If that pistol had a longer barrel, I'd be dead by now," he thought as he reached the machine room door. A quick button press later, he was through and out of the machine room. He sprinted down the corridor, trying to formulate a plan - should he try to barricade himself somewhere, or would be wiser to try to hide? Should he try to find somebody else to protect him against Mantrid? Should he attempt to get ahold of a weapon and deal with Mantrid himself? For now, he ran.
brute force had decided to check TheMuffinMan's story for himself. He found the body in the cargo bay, just as TheMuffinMan had said. The makeshift spear that im lost had been killed with lay nearby. Everything just as TheMuffinMan had described. But brute force couldn't shake a strange, nagging doubt, and he moved deeper into the dark and cluttered cargo bay. Alert as he was, he still only barely managed to dodge the huge, eight-wheeled ore crusher that came for him, but now he was behind it and it could not turn in the close quarters. A shape jumped from the driver's cabin, landing gracefully on the floor, turning to face him. It wore a standard utility overall like all the crew members did, but it was not human - the brown, leathery skin and purple eyes were the mark of an alien. brute force had come face to face with one of the formtakers - and it was far out of melee reach. brute force leisurely reached for his pistol, pointing it at the alien and squeezing the trigger. The formtaker charged with inhuman speed as the weapon jammed, and brute force dropped the gun to the floor with a curse and fumbled for his injector. By the time he got it out, the formtaker had almost reached him, but he greeted it with a fine aerosol of liquid as he emptied the vial in his injector. The formtaker had seen him aim the device at it and had tried to dodge aside, but it screamed and clutched its right arm where the mist had hit it. brute force brought his right leg around in a sweeping roundhouse kick, aiming squarely for the formtaker's head, but it managed to duck under the kick, and with superhuman strength it swatted him through the air and into the side of an autonomous tunneling unit with the uninjured arm. Dazed and shaken, brute force tried to get up from where he had slumped to the floor, but the blow and the impact had weakened him too much. He was unable to resist as the formtaker strolled over to him, picked him up by the collar, and threw him into the still running ore crusher. What came out the other end would have been unidentifiable, were it not for the bloodied rag that fluttered to the floor. Embroidered on it was a name and an occupation: brute force, Port Security.

Sorry to double post, but I might as well post my opinions on why brute was killed.
The wolves killed brute to try and shake our trust in the seer and the confirmed humans. If me, Talesin or Sky had died, it would be fairly obvious that we were human and the wolves were trying to kill us off - We would soon have every human on our side. As it stands, brute has been wolfed, not one of us. I urge you all to not play to the wolves own game. We are an inch away from winning this game, but we will only be able to do it if we do not split into two equal parties like we did a few days ago.

The intercom clicks and makes a soft popping noise, then sputters in and out for a few moments. Talesin's voice is barely recognizable. "... hands, please ... briefing ... SEER ... ready."
-------

QUOTE

Talesin looks worn today, a bit pale.. the uniform nowhere near as crisp or starched, though the spotting appears to have been cleaned away. A few buttons are unfastened, and one of the pieces of gold-braid trim is missing. He slips a silver case from his pocket and extracts a thin roll of paper, setting it between his lips and lighting the end from a black zippo.
He takes a slow drag, then looks around the table and nods. "The dramatics are over for the time being. Two of the formtakers are dead, as Sky there has verified. We also lost our security head last night, given his lack of attendance, and the bloody heap in the cargo bay." He stands, starting to pace once more, lightly flicking the ash away now and again.
He stops after almost a minute. "The SEER report has come back for the day. One of the suspected from my list was scanned, and given that Mantrid was the only one of the two left to scan, it was him." He turns and pushes the button, the display screen flickering to life. It shows the test results... all of the boxes are bright red, and the graphical representation looks even less like the normal example than the previous two. "Mantrid was one of the bodies in those pods. A formtaker is sitting in his place. His reversal last night, from questioning my results at every turn to believing, made me suspect that he was attempting to save his own neck, knowing that SwiftSpear was lost. Also, as you may note, they appear to be altering further.. or returning to their normal state. I believe they may be unable to hold forms for an extended period of time."
His footsteps are muffled, returning to pacing. "I've been reviewing the security tapes... was up all night. There's one obvious guess as to the last formtaker, who should be scanned tonight, provided all goes well. I was trying to find anything to point to another suspect, but the words are suspicious. Cold-Nite is my guess for the last formtaker. When I told him that he would be scanned, he lost control. Claimed that I was a formtaker, and that I would accuse him of being one the next day. A convenient 'out' if he DID prove to be one."

Well, Talesin holds a lot of sway, so I know there isn't a whole lot I can say in my defense, except that I am not a formtaker. All I have is my word. Any people I networked with earlier in the game are either wolfed or lynched, so I don't have anyone to back me up.
Um, okay then. A little surprising, but I guess Mantrid's the seer's pick today.
I too thought his behavior suspicious, but no more suspicious than Muffin's objectively speaking. Both argued against Talesin before switching sides. However, I know personally that there are 2 formtakers left, which means Talesin has led us to lynch half of the wolves in the game. I would think that that would put him indisputably in the realm of "human"....however there is one fact that concerns me.
If Mantrid isn't a wolf...and I go tonight....I won't be able to verify Talesin is telling the truth about Mantrid...which means that he would be free to dictate yet another "wolf" to kill. Which means that, after that night's wolfing, the wolves would win.
....Now I'm just being paranoid....after weighing the options, I believe it is best to believe in Talesin. If he is a wolf, this is the most elaborate plot I have ever seen. Mantrid.

Yes, and after that side-switch, Muffin was scanned and found human. As I posted yesterday. It was suspicious behaviour... same reason Mantrid was scanned tonight, even if he *was* on my suspect list earlier.

Ah yes, and I have complete faith in Talesin now, by virtue of the fact that the game is still going despite what Swiftspear tried to tell us (although he made sure to say that Nem was probably a wolf, of course this was after he realized he was doomed).
I'm voting for Mantrid, any further votes for him will result in an instalynch, so be absolutely sure you made the right choice before you vote.

No no it's not that.

<TheMuffinMan> sky has been close to talesin and all of them, so it might link them up a bit as well
<SwiftSpear> I'm really surprized to find out that snidely was not a wolf TBH
<TheMuffinMan> i don't think so
<TheMuffinMan> he seemed just like me, an overzealous human
<SwiftSpear> well

<SwiftSpear> he was so hard against me
<SwiftSpear> I just thought he had to be a wolf
<TheMuffinMan> good point
<SwiftSpear> I guess it kind of makes sense now
<TheMuffinMan> aye
<SwiftSpear> would a wolf really hardline so much?
<SwiftSpear> I mean even talesin seems gaurded now
<TheMuffinMan> they might
<TheMuffinMan> sometimes the best cover is out in the open

<TheMuffinMan> actually, he sounds more and more likely
<SwiftSpear> does that make him a wolf now?
<SwiftSpear> though?*
<TheMuffinMan> especially when we take into account the "we will seer cold night" shite
<SwiftSpear> ya
<TheMuffinMan> if the guardian is still alive, that would make cold the obvious target to protect

<SwiftSpear> well
<TheMuffinMan> to an extent, anyway
<SwiftSpear> I think that snidley getting wolfed was obvious
<SwiftSpear> they want me dead

<TheMuffinMan> why wolf you when they can vote you off?
<SwiftSpear> they are hoping that killing one of my biggest opponents will incriminate me

<TheMuffinMan> To be honest mate, this does not look good for you
<SwiftSpear> it doesn't look good for the humans period
<TheMuffinMan> no
<SwiftSpear> one more human death and we lose
<TheMuffinMan> and out of the humans, half of them believe in talesin

<SwiftSpear> I've been hearing your name come up in suspicions alot more too
<SwiftSpear> they are tigtening the noose here
<TheMuffinMan> yep
<TheMuffinMan> sitting on the fence may be my downfall
<TheMuffinMan> they might kill me off simply because i might swing against them

<TheMuffinMan> like he prepares everyone of his posts in word before posting them
<SwiftSpear> I think lost acctually contacted him
<SwiftSpear> so he mirrored what lost was said as long as he could via pm to look good
<SwiftSpear> and then killed him off before he could incrimnated them on thier powerplay against me and nem
<TheMuffinMan> nice point
<TheMuffinMan> that would mean that the pyschic thought that he was getting his message out to someone, while he was talking to a wolf
<TheMuffinMan> reckon he contacted anyone else?
<SwiftSpear> I'm pretty sure
<SwiftSpear> nem told me that he was contacted
<SwiftSpear> infact I think I still have the PM he forwarded me somewhere...

<TheMuffinMan> can you remember the gist of it?
<SwiftSpear> ya
<TheMuffinMan> would you mind sharing? This could help us figure out whether nem was a wolf or not
<SwiftSpear> basicly it was just sky saying that he had contacted the seer and that 4 wolfs were still a big threat
<TheMuffinMan> if they knew that the psychic was dead, why bother killing a fellow wolf? Perhaps nem was human
<SwiftSpear> psychic*
<SwiftSpear> not seer

Swiftspear - 4 (Sky, bruce force, Pulse, Talesin)
sky - 2 (Swiftspear, cold-nite)
Which means, of course, Instalynch™.
"That's an honest answer, at least."
A wave of relief washed over Hellfire3k.
The longer we delay, the smaller our chance of survival becomes."
Swiftspear was in the machine room with Pulse, trying to convince him.
"No way. It's too early for that. I don't want to scuttle this ship unless we absolutely have to. and we'd be killing innocent people as well. People who have b-- who are our friends! I am not prepared to do that."
"NEITHER AM I!" bellowed a voice. Mantrid was standing in the door, pistol in hand, pointing it somewhere between the two. "What the hell are you two up to? Trying to save your own hides at the expense of everyone else, you bastards?"
Swiftspear raised his hands in defense, palms toward Mantrid.
"If you damage the drive core and it leaks, you'll blow up the whole ship!"
Mantrid all but chuckled when he responded: "Oh please, Swiftspear. You may be the resident expert, but I'm not stupid. That core is impervious to anything below 20mm. The only one at risk here is you."
Pulse could not see Mantrid as he maneuvered his way around the drive core, but when he heard the gunshot and the unmistakable thud of a body falling to the floor, he knew that Swiftspear was dead.

I will need PMs from the guardian (if alive), seer (if alive) and any remaining formtakers before we advance to day six.
Day six will begin on monday, the 18th of April, 20:00 GMT.
brute force and Cold NiTe were in the medical quarters, watching Talesin work on a pair of injectors. As he sat there with has back turned, he explained:
"These capsules might, in the end, be our best shot at getting out of this alive. You won't kill a formtaker that way, but you could gain a crucial advantage in a fight."
brute force had to suppress a chuckle.
"I just wish we hadn't lost all those vials."
"Don't worry, they're not lost." TheMuffinMan came in through the door. "I thought I might find you here. How thoughtful of you - is one of those injectors for me? I found im lost's body you know - and the vials. One of them was broken, but the others are fine."
"No, these injectors are not for you," said Talesin without even turning around to acknowledge TheMuffinMan's presence, "but I'll modify one for you as well when I'm done with this one.

Unlucky brute. It was fun playing with you.

One of the suspected from my list was scanned, and given that Mantrid was the only one of the two left to scan, it was him."
