Weird Error Message When Connection To Server

I have a friend that keeps getting the following error message when trying to connect to NS....... "LAN servers are restricted to local servers (Class C)
Has anyone encountered this before, if so any advise?

    It means whatever server they are trying to connect to is setup for Local Access only (probably because they have sv_lan 1 in their server.cfg or listenserver.cfg). If you are the one running the server check those respective files, sv_lan needs to be set to 0 for him to join over an internet connection.

    If it is you hosting the server, you might need to manually open the port (defaults to 27015 I believe) on your router if you have one. Then obviously you'd have to give him the actual router IP to connect to, not your computers IP of 192.168.....blah blah blah
