I could remodel it, but I need some information first:
a) Do you need to be able to look into the barrel? b) Do you need the seperate covers? c1) (If b=yes) Same skinmap for both covers? c2) (If b=no) Same skinmaps for bottom and top of the barrel?

I didn't do the model myself, it was created by nex9, i wanted to use it for my map. The lid doesnt need to come off and my knowledge of modelling and skinning is really non-existent. If you could sort that out it would be great. I just want them as solid units to put in a cold storgae room in my map.
flashes his version wer ethe lid is animated to spin off and the drum to exsplode on a seperate file question any one know how to join the two of these to the same file or whats the score there ?

Hey guys, it's looking good. My only request would be perhaps to make the actual colour of the drum more metallic/silver as it is intended for cold storage and the green doesn't really fit with that idea in my head. Other than that it's a fantastic job all around, thanks guys.
[edit] Actually that green is growing on me. How about maybe a second version with a different colour background, say silver, and the green one, so i can use them at different locations[/edit]
oh ok i see what skinny did, he made them slid bars and gave a lcd read out nice
i actuly pictured the lcd as a touch screen key pad and them slid bars as temp gages
i dont know about your redo drum obst, i mean its fine and all but seams like it would fit nicely into quake, why does it flar at the top and bottom again, it would take ages for a marine to roll that thing to were its got to go, also the control pannel seams a little unerganomic, i am australian so i type how i speak, most of da time, i left dark soul with a open ended file as i figured he had enough understanding to tweak it him self, sorry for the miss under standing dark soul
oh and the pic shows why my drum had 3000+ polys maybe i should save my drum for ns source
tho serious obst should we stop our childish nit picking here and get some serious work done, r should we just carrie on like jerk offs, cos your opinion doesnt bother me m8, i can walk away and continue createing high polys stuff worthie of engines to come
yeah ok so i went a little over bored on the gauges poly count a single gage = 340 polys opps : )

but you didnt critasice obst, you were being a jerk
you think the polys dont match up on the pannel and the center drum line, there not ment to the lable area is ment to match up with the top rim, i could of put a lame flat lid on it but then it wouldn't of matched the rest of the drum and would of looked well lame, the gages yes there way over poly, but the top and bottom rim really needs to be rounded
yes you stuck to my design but your looks like it should be in Quake 1 while mine looks like you would see it in UT 2006
six skins would just about do it two flamable labled one old looking one new, a new TSA drum, and a old rusted TSA drum, *note not to rusted they breatch safty standards, but enough, a silver cold cold storage, as in labled liquid nitrigen and then a totally random skin in a oddly coulor thats stands out something lighter to break up the colors this drum may only be used once or twice, *note the cold cold storage would have frost effects on it, the frost effects would also match the rust effects as all the drums would be frosted from deep space travel and would unfrost and leave due coursing the rust when the ships come back online to dock

Don't try to drag me down, I'm way out of your range.
btw I'm really sorry about my tone (well, not really), but your "my model is worthy of a better engine" statement really, really makes me freak out.
lol serious they stoped useing 8 sided drums in duke nukem 3d, with exseptions to wow, at least go 12 sided serious it would make all the difference, alternate each ring opposed to each other, shore you have to change your triangle format which will increase the polys but it will look better in the end
Comments
Perhaps I can fix it....
:EDIT: OMG, this model is totally bugged. Reversed faces everywhere, double sided faces... WTH...
:EDIT2: Crap model, fixing this would take more time than properly remodelling it.
a) Do you need to be able to look into the barrel?
b) Do you need the seperate covers?
c1) (If b=yes) Same skinmap for both covers?
c2) (If b=no) Same skinmaps for bottom and top of the barrel?
A)No
B)No
C2)Yes

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->couldnt you at least 2X its rounder obst serious aliens will get stuck wall walking on that drum<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
What you see is not where the "wall" is. The mapper would have to define the hull for that barrell, and he'd most likely use a box anyway, so it doesn't matter.
About "6 different skins" and "blablabla":
I want mapper input on this.
there are other ways you could of informed me of my misstacks obst, you dont have to be a #$%* about it (#*&$ head
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->see above, see above, hum i looked and remebered thats were i found your information lacking<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

And
<!--QuoteBegin-Obst+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Obst)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I had no reference pics or such <b>I had to stick to your "design"</b>.
<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
you think the polys dont match up on the pannel and the center drum line, there not ment to the lable area is ment to match up with the top rim, i could of put a lame flat lid on it but then it wouldn't of matched the rest of the drum and would of looked well lame, the gages yes there way over poly, but the top and bottom rim really needs to be rounded
yes you stuck to my design but your looks like it should be in Quake 1 while mine looks like you would see it in UT 2006
a new TSA drum, and a old rusted TSA drum, *note not to rusted they breatch safty standards, but enough, a silver cold cold storage, as in labled liquid nitrigen
and then a totally random skin in a oddly coulor thats stands out something lighter to break up the colors this drum may only be used once or twice, *note the cold cold storage would have frost effects on it, the frost effects would also match the rust effects as all the drums would be frosted from deep space travel and would unfrost and leave due coursing the rust when the ships come back online to dock
Reality hurts.
I showed you the mistakes and called them what they are: crap.
OH NEOS ZEH WHINEZ!!!11one

As opposed to your current over-rounded "something".
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->the gages yes there way over poly<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
As is everything else as well.
Just look at the picture I provided....
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->but the top and bottom rim really needs to be rounded<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Not really, only when you have loads of polies to waste, which isn't the case with a map model.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->your looks like it should be in Quake 1<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You know of the engine NS uses, don't you?
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->while mine looks like you would see it in UT 2006 <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
More like "UT we make crap models with two many polies 1991".
And finally, I got a quote for you :
<!--QuoteBegin-Some random d00d+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Some random d00d)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->there are to many people in this world just willing to drag each other off the top of the pile, there not willing to reach up there and take it them self, there just willing to drag everyone else down around them<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Don't try to drag me down, I'm way out of your range.
btw I'm really sorry about my tone (well, not really), but your "my model is worthy of a better engine" statement really, really makes me freak out.

MORE POLYS = BETTER MODEL!?
<img src='http://www.nsarmslab.com/urd/doc/awdwd1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
it may even look round *shock horror look*
