MonsE about the thread "Readyroom reading requirements".
Ok, here some stuff I've been wondering about since I read the interviews and such.
"The aliens are savage to the core and will even attack and scare each other."
This _could_ be interpreted as aliens could gain fragging bonuses from picking off smaller aliens. I doubt that this will be the case, especially all the talk about FF and such, but I think the idea sounded intresting. I reckon that it might ruin gameplay, but it would certainly fit. Natural Selection? The strongest pick at the weakest!
I said intresting idea, but you're probably very right that it shouldn't be implemented.
Ok, finished with that.
"...when a player dies, he won't just respawn, there will be cost associated with it. If the cost can't be paid, he's out of the game."
Will the cost be the same for all the alien classes? As Bob will die easier in combat, wouldn't it be right that it would be cheaper to ressurect him? Then again, a good bob player shouldn't have to die if he plays right.
"I'm starting to work on an alien language, where the aliens can communicate using a simple animal syntax, not unlike the system used by coyotes or turkeys in the wild. To a non-alien player, all that may be heard is a variety of scary-sounding alien noises in the next room. To someone that knows the language they may hear a hiss that means "non-moving danger ahead", "my space! my space!", "this one is mine", "I'm in heat" ;)etc. There are lots of interesting ways we could take NS once we finish the core gameplay."
Will the aliens hear the marine chatter too? (Just asking to be absolutely sure . The alien chatter would be translated (of course) for the alien players when they heard it. (by text on the screen?) What about a research that allows the marines to catch what they're saying?
Then again, that will keep the marine players from trying to learn the language theirselves, and the aliens would lose their advantage. Though TSA research on a translator certainly would be logical.
I realise now that lots of this isn't questions but more me thinking out loud.

The cost mentioned is the cost of resurrecting, plus the stuff you lose when you die (such as evolutions/upgrades).

Yes, it has been mentioned that it would be likely for the aliens to start attacking their fellow aliens, though probably not in a gameplay sense. I guess what Molecular said, maybe killing a level 1 for the resource points it takes to evolve in a feeble attempt to win the game might work. But of course, I can't see any of that working in a public game. "Dude, I'm on you're !@@$$# team. Stop attacking me!" or "You @##$$% @##$@. Why'd you kill me?" And even in a clan game, only the killing for RPs at the end of a game would likely work.
Maybe in games with FF off, the attacking of teammates might increase the adrenaline in a kind of primal fury kind of way, as if the aliens were preparing themselves for battle by some means.
Divert.

As for the larger aliens picking on the smaller ones, cannibalism? A larger alien could kill a smaller one as a last resort, like if he is at 10% health he could get a temporary health boost. Or maybe the larger alien could pick up the smaller ones and act as a transport/shell so that the smaller one can get close to an enemy and kill that player? The larger alien might also be able to fling the smaller ones at an enemy. Heh. Alien cannonballs anyone?
