I Fire Randomly...anyone Having The Same Problem?

on a laptop
I am playing NS on a laptop with a USB mouse. I have disabled the inbuilt mouse when I do that so that I do not accidently touch the touchpad.

But then somehow at random times I just suddenly fire nonstop. The only way to stop it is if I manually press fire and then it stops.

Anyone else have this problem?

    What OS?
    How old is the mouse?

I seriously doubt it's a HL problem; I suspect the mouse. Open a folder, and maximise it. Move the mouse around the window, figgure of 8 style. Random selection rectangles appear?

If so, tis teh mouse. Loose it. (Or open it up, take the button from mouse2 and move it to mouse1, then rebind mouse3 to mouse2, leaving mouse2 blank. Works if you're desparate. )
If no rectangles appear, post back.

Simplest solutions are always the best.

You have an AMD motherboard, I'm guessing.

I had exactly the same problem when trying to use my mates laptop, and it turns out that even though he had disabled the inbuilt mouse, i was still leaning down on the button on the touchpad and it was firing. Very strange but thats what it was for me anyway....
