The movie will be almost, but not quite, entirely unlike the books.
What, I'm surprised no one's said that yet. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Wow, you got some cheap theaters where you live.
I didn't have high hopes for AvP but went to see it anyway and it was an OK action film. (Don't start I am a huge Aliens and a not quite as huge but still pretty big Predator fan so I know when you start comparing its a POS so shh)
I don't have high hopes for this but I'll probably go and see it anyway, I have this strange tendencancy to want to form my own opinions on films by watching them rather than just reading negative reviews.
Keep in mind that every medium shift HHG underwent caused a complete change. The only original medium was radio. The books were based loosely on the radio, the tv series was based loosely on the books and radio. By the looks of it some liberty has been taken with the movie too.
THIS. DOES. NOT. MATTER.
Hitchhiker's guide is much MUCH more than just the books. The radio series went for several years and was very often written in a hurry. Adams was quite literally scribbling down lines and handing them to the voice actors to read on air.
As long as the movie's got Arthur Dent, Zaphod Beeblebrox and Slartybardfast, I'm happy.
