this is a cool little place in Portland Oregon. They charge 21.00$ a night for non-members 18$ for members. I have stayed here a few times it is mostly international travelers, its a dorm and has 24hour a day access, a kitchen, some free food and free wi-fi access. This is a great deal as most hotels in the area cost 60+ a night. <a href='http://www.hihostels.com/performLocationSearchHome.sma?country=US&city=a60112&AffiliateID=97060' target='_blank'>Hosteling international</a>
Of course people (ns players) in the area i'm sure will house visitors, this is a fun place to stay in Portland, with cool people from around the world, and it is a great price.
Just thought i would suggest it to travelers that would like a place o say dureing the LAN.
Would there be a place for a van to stay nearby for my group to sleep in?
We really don't want to pay for a place to stay. Was hoping, if possible, near someone's house, so we could shower, brush teeth, or whatever. I'm trying to convince some friends/clannies to come up there with me (if I can make it), and paying for gas alone could kill us.
i would imagine there will be a tournament(s). if not going to the LAN would be kinda pointless. if im gonna take a day off work to go and play Video games i hope i will atleast have a chance of winning SOMETHING.

I offered to help Moogle out by researching some possible venues for the LAN (to be held in the Portland, Oregon area). I found a place that would probably work great, but it's totally booked on Fri-Sun, June 24-26. However (at least for now), it's open on the following weekend (Fri-Sun, July 1-3). The next day, July 4, is a national holiday, so it may make it easier for some folks to come but harder for others. Since many people work, trying to cram in activity on Friday evening would likely not be cost-effective, so I'm thinking that having an all-day event on Saturday (spilling over into early AM Sunday) would work the best. Now, in order to be able to book a venue, <b>an accurate headcount is essential</b>. If you want to attend the LAN, please respond below with the following info:<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> <i>1. Do you want to attend the LAN?</i>
Yes
<i>2a. Can you attend the LAN if it will be held on Saturday, July 2nd?</i>
Yes, <b>and I could easily get July 1st off of work given this much advance notice.</b> I'd love to start Friday night if that's possible. Or just help set up I guess.
<i>3. Will it benefit you if the LAN venue is near public transportation (i.e., MAX light rail)?</i>
Not really, living in northern Washington, I'll probably just drive.
<i>4a. If you attend, will you need a hotel room?</i>
I can sleep in my car. It's been done before, but if a cheap opportunity for a hotel room presented itself I'd take it.
<i>4b. If you answered yes to 4a, would you be willing to share a room with other attendees? (If enough people need rooms, then a group rate can probably be arranged with a hotel.)</i>
Yea sure. As long as there's a bed for me I'm good.
<i>5. What is the most that you would pay to attend the event itself (for only admission and parking)? (It is extremely important that this question be answered accurately, since it is a major factor in determining the venue. The cost will be kept as low as possible, since this isn't a commercial event.)</i>
ONLY admission and parking, $20.
<i>6. Are you interested in helping with the setup and/or cleanup?</i>
I'd help set up. Cleaning up other people's spent Bawls bottles doesn't appeal.
<i>7. What games (other than NS) do you want to play while at the LAN?</i>
I find UT 2004 and the various strategy games to be fun at LANs. I'd love to play one of the "Descent"s but, no one has them or plays them any more <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
<i>8. Do you have any servers (game, voice comm, etc.) or network equipment that you could bring? If so, what, specifically?</i>
I have a 10 person vent server, but that's not really relevent. I have a 5 port router and a 5 port hub, and a few network cables.
Is there going to be internet at the alleged party?
ooooo crap i can't do it on the 2nd now...it managed to slip my mind that i'll be on a cruise and i get back the 3rd. So i doubt i'll be able to make it then <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yes there would be a place, just pm spacemoogle5 for details.
<i>2a. Can you attend the LAN if it will be held on Saturday, July 2nd?</i>
Sure
<i>3. Will it benefit you if the LAN venue is near public transportation (i.e., MAX light rail)?</i>
It would probably help a lot of people around town, but I live about 20 minutes out of Portland (in gresham) so I could drive if I had to.
<i>4a. If you attend, will you need a hotel room?</i>
No. I'll live at home or maybe at the FFT manor if they ever clean up that toxic waste dump.. I mean house...

$30-40
<i>6. Are you interested in helping with the setup and/or cleanup?</i>
Sure. Most of it'll probably be my drunken mess anyway...
<i>7. What games (other than NS) do you want to play while at the LAN?</i>
Whatever I can warez o.0
<i>8. Do you have any servers (game, voice comm, etc.) or network equipment that you could bring? If so, what, specifically?</i>
Nope, but I used to be a computer technician at a school full of that stuff and might be able to borrow some equipment.
I could prolly go, but the problem being I am stuck in Cali, the Bay Area and my car sucks for long distance trips gas wise. everything else I could figure out something. so someone wanna give me a ride? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

As far as I'm concerned, yes, but it's <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showuser=17643' target='_blank'>Moogle</a>'s show. If everyone that's planning on going sends him a PM or email via the forums, that might increase his level of activity.

Since I haven't seen any progress from Moogle and since I want to see an event happen as much as the rest of you guys, I guess I'll throw something together. However, in light of the fact that Moogle won't be the host, I won't hijack the "[FFT] LAN" thread for that purpose.
