Yeah its annoying to be told by someone very ignorant that you have have no idea what you are talking about.
RCA cables are outdated, on some components, mainly DVD, and Satellite boxes, but other wise for stereo components (older ones mostly) they are used quite a bit. Especially if you wish to go from computer to a stereo, not many computers I know have the fiber optic toslink connection.

As an explenation, Cyn and I wokr for RS, and thus we get some of the best technoilliterate people. Some are cool and like learning about the random thing they came in for.
some suck and insist that we don't know anytihng (despite this being our job).
is this realy the same battery? are you sure? I don't think it is. are you sure?
Exactly, some come in and love to learn how to use their gadgets, those people are the ones who are excellent to help.
Usually they help me out in return or offer to, silly boys.
Those that don't, well lets just say they can be some of the most frustrating encouters.. and its not like you can just expect them to get angry and hang up because most of the time they are actually in the store, so you have to deal with them when they get so irrate that they have reliquished control of common sense.
In response, I told them they could not and they would have to buy a NIC card, after a lenghtly discussion on why they needed one. They bought one of our D-Link ones. :-) $29.99 FTW (and the service plan +14.99, lol) (Most expensive one, I know we have less expensive ones Thansal)

14.99?
please tell me that was more then one year!
You know my personal fav?
"I'm to old for this" "My generation doesn't do/understand this"
My dad is older then you and teaches CS.
That lady that just walked out the door is your age and is going home to set up a wireless network. She also has a bluetooth enabled PDA (and knows how to use it).
favorite was some one POSSIBLy in his 40s saying that his generation dosn't understand this stuff (I was explaining how to plug a device into a sereo via RCA cables).

I feel sorry for you Radio Shack folks. The worst technical issues I have to deal with at Gamestop are figuring out if someone needs RCA cables or an RF adapter, and explaining to people how to set up a wireless network for their Xbox Live.
On the other hand I have to deal with idiot parents coming in and asking me to recommend a video game for their 2 or 3 year old child. That kind of stuff makes me cry on the inside.

Ahh well. I like the guys from the techsupport. Although we have some very stupid folks at t-online/telekom which is the main provider/phoneservice for germany.
"I have set up a DFÜ-Network over the DSL modem, which I got yesterday. I typed in my login and password, but it won't connect." "Do you have a modem?" "Err, well appearently." "What network did you have? "I set it up on windows. It's DFÜ, so I don't need to connect via your software." "Install our software!" "Urgh... ok bye..."
I tried to trick Caboose into an admission, but I'm guessing it isn't him. Triple A keeps talking about being Texan so either he is one or he just hates Texas.
Personally I'm banking on Triple A being Swiftspear. Don't ask me why.

yes, the 14.99 was two years replacement warranty. since its not like they could physically damage the unit unless they stomped on it.
