The military have been working on exo-suits for a while but as far as I know they haven't been linked to the body like this one, they just support the joints. I guess as they're designed for healthy soldiers rather than the elderly and infirm they didn't see the need.

if you need super powers look for the bleex (another darpa contract project).. still not a super bionic man sprinting machine, but you can carry relative heavy wheights on your back.. got some picture of in in the link below
