Wow
Here's the scoop. This website has a collection of videos that have been sent in from people all across the country. Once a month, the new videos, or pilots, fight to see who gets the most votes from a live studio audience in LA. Then the top shows stay and get put into 'Primetime' and the creators of those shows go on and pick the new stuff that will premiere at the next public event. Audience members get to act as tv execs and decide if a show comes back, gets cancelled, and so on. It's worth poking around for yourself and seeing everything there is.

The most popluar seems to be a series called Laser Fart. It's about this guy who farts...lasers. It's actually pretty good, has character development and everything, and episode 2 stars Jack Black.

I'm not sure I'd trust the general population to pick what is good... thats pretty much why I don't have a TV, nor do I want one.

Actually, the most popular series on Channel 101 is usually The Bu and not LAser Fart, but the guys who make The Bu are busy doing a pilot for Fox right now so the newest episodes have been crap (although the latest was a bit of an upturn). If you follow channel 101 enough you definately get to know the regular directors and their distinctive styles. I personally think that anything done by Rob Schrab (Twiggers Holiday, Rockstar, Robot Bastard) is like, the sex juice of the gods. And although David Hartman consistently makes amazing vidoes (Freako Asylum, Freaks Of The Moon, Codename Embryo, Adventerous Und Magick Hause) it makes me sad that his most popular series is based around a gimick like farting lasers.

And also, be sure to check out http://www.channel102.net which is the East Coast equivilant of Channel 101. Although much less proffesional looking, it has definately been funnier the past couple months.

Did a smaaaaall amount of research (basically, I threw "citizen TV" at google) and two websites came up that may be interesting too.

Current is apparently a new cable channel that will take [urk=http://current.tv/create]your shorts[/url]. Or som'n. From the website it seems that the pieces that will be put on the channel itself will be chosen through an online vote. Don't like the blog posts on the front page though. Something about their wording stinks.

Participatory Culture is a project by Downhill Battle. It's basically internet TV broadcast using BitTorrent, something like podcasting but with video. Each person participating can control his own channel and content. They're just providing the hype and tech.
