<div class="IPBDescription">Help :(</div> I run on a Cable connection with my computer and whenever I join servers with a good 12people on them my ping shoots up and spikes at 250. So the game becomes completely unplayable. =/ I have a Radeon 9800 pro, my motherboard is a Soyocomputers model P4VTE, which has a built in networking/sound card. Running on windows 2000 on sevice pack 4. I think that is all the info you need. Just ask for me otherwise. I don't know crap about computers. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Go to your Steam settings, click on Internet, and set it to T1.

Turn off all other programs while playing.

Make very sure that you're not running any P2P software, because they will really slow down your connection.

    Scan for spyware and viruses.

    Do you have a router?

I could be wrong here but some cable connections in heavily saturated areas can have very high pings but good download rates.

You may be one of the unlucky people that lives in one of those heavily saturated areas.

    in console:

    rate 20000

    cl_cmdrate xx

    cl_updaterate xx

Set xx to ur max FPS

Adjust updaterate down if your ping is still high, play with them and find a balance of performance/ping....

    Meh

    Good luck
