    Ready? OK, let's begin:

The pink lights in Hive and the red cube lights are not to my liking. The cube lights are a nice concept but just turn out a bit gimmicky, but it's possible that they could work if you textured the top and bottom faces with a metal texture or similar.

Info_locations I suppose are wasted on such a small map, but could be a nice touch to give is a bit more character. This also makes criticism difficult as I have to describe each area to identify it.

Hive seems too small, especially when you think about Aliens mass-spawning when they are being camped. As it is now there isn't enough room for all of them to move around properly and I fear that this will make spawncamping even easier.

Also the Hive vent is accessible and its exit very campable by Marines (from the other side of the central room, in the small adjoining room). This means that Aliens who do get camped have no safe escape route by which they could flank any campers. The corridor into which the Hive vent exits is also too small (imo) to readily accommodate advancing and retreating Aliens at the same time.

Ladders don't seem very negociable by skulks (you have to jump a bit before you can cling and climb successfully), which although not technically neccessary would be annoying for people playing the map for the first time. I suspect you need to extend the bottom of the ladder to the floor.

Considering the size of the map, some areas of the central room could and should have lower r_speeds (right exit from Hive). With only two main routes and a vent, all of which end up in this one room, you should pay extra attention to the r_speeds because of the very high probability of everyone being in that one place at the same time. Take into account the effects of battle lag in an area as part of a map such as Serenity. The little room before the central room on the upper tier also has 800+ wpolys.

It would definitely benefit from some redeveloped brushwork if you intend to keep the current claustrophobic layout.

Very nice thursday. I've had a quick run around and it looks good. I must admit to having one or two initial thoughts regarding potential problems, but they can't really bec onfirmed until tested in games but here they are anyway.

1 - The hump in the middle of the MS which you have to jump to get up causes a problem. If marines are under attack it is hard for them to move about when backing up into a step for example.

2 - After coming out of MS past the welding second armoury you walk along a platform which looks like it ends in a wall, when you get there and look over the end you can see the ladders, but when i went down them it was a bit awkward to get out past the second ladder. If under attack that is going to get a lot of people killed, maybe make the platform stop about 64 units before it does.

Sorry for no screens, my pc has borked and had to reformat again, so no photoshop installed yet.

[edit] point 2 is behind you on the second screen shot you have displayed in this thread [/edit]

I already noted this and I am changing the position of the ladders by 180 degrees, and also carving in to the floor.

Most other problems have been taken in to account and are being or have been changed already.

Thanks for the red light thing carioca, it does look alot better now <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Just had a run round, What hit's me first in the game is that I feel like a tiny rat running round the place, Monitors and celings are high up and big. It feels really weard.
Very good though, Widths seem fine it's just the height of everything else.

Now with the new mapping guidelines, can we have some others take another look at this..

My first impression is that there is no cover for the alien side, everything just seems really wide open as you walk from location to location..

But let's see what some other feedback brings.

    Thanks for recent comments.

Will look in to adjusting that game factor Zunni. Maybe lowering some ceilings and the inclusion of something such as crates and maybe even fit pipes or something in to the map.

Really, don't you think it's ironic that you said that crates ruined co_sava, but yet you decide to add them to your map? Good job, no really. You made yourself look like a fool.

For some reason HLGaming is locking downloads at 4 k/b per second. I have no idea why, but ZIPs weren't downloadable for the past 6 months and I'm guessing the two issues are related. If anyone else can provide a download mirror that would be nice and greatly appreciated.

2 things for now. I haven't walked through it, but I don't think it looks like Serenity.
Secondly, are you intending on submitting this for official inclusion, and if so, are you intending on changing the name to avoid copyright issues?

I really doubt thats a copyright violation... if so then the whole world has gone mad. Anyway don't tell anyone but, cough, eon is the name of a book.

Thing is though, he's stated in earlier threads about it that Serenity was based on the ship "Serenity" from the show "Firefly" which is owned by Fox. There is also a movie coming out named "Serenity" based on the "Firefly" story. Now I doubt Greg Bear's publisher is going to go after you for referencing his book in a video game, but Fox has a history of suing people who tread every so lightly on their copyright. I personally, would be a little worried even about some of the textures in NS because I'm pretty damn sure some of them came from screenshots of "Alien."

I said I liked the name. Not that this is the ship serenity.

Doesn't matter. If he copied thier layouts or posted textures of thier copywritten icons around then they would have a case, but you can't copywrite design techniques or common terms.

[edit] your file host is scarily slow...
