    Dark works better...because, amazingly enough, your computer is not a piece of paper. It makes it's own light. Therefore, staring at a bright pink/orange/white/etc. image with dark text is harder on your eyes than looking at a dark image with lighter text. Not to say black on white is hard to read or something...but after a few hours it gets a bit harder to focus on it.

    Haha wow, was it those boards that were EXTREMELY slow?

    Weren't they insanely basic? Mostly just text links and such on a black background?
