I just introduced her to the wonders of winamp, but I am trying in vain by looking and with google to find out how to get the media controls on the keybaord to control winamp. Anyone with better google skills or general knowdlegd would be nice

I have the "microsoft natural keyboard omg the elite of all don't know its exact name" keyboard. And it has buttons that are specifcly designed to run winamp... and I still don't get it to work. The only thin it does is turn sound on/off or turn the overall volume of my computer down.

Edit: Ah well.. just got it to work. I set mine to start Winamp whenever I press the play button. And magicly all the other buttons work now.

Can't she just set WinAmp's hotkeys to those buttons?

Tried that, I turn on global hotkeys and set each one by pressing it and hitting set and that is fine. But when I hit close, it gives me an error ... nm, it gives me an error, but still works, odd.

    Thanks!

If you're willing to use LiteStep, I could tell you exactly how to set that up in LS.

If he's just introducing his friend to winAmp, I doubt replacing the entire shell would be the best thing to do there...

Yah, we're done for now. Her dad keeps the PC in amazingly good shape already (compared to the average user), adaware and so forth. Only thing I need to get them to use is firefox now, we're working on that
