I'm not sure there are any worth playing yet, but there are some very promising ones in the works... (from the people of NS Arms Lab: <a href='http://calibermod.com' target='_blank'>http://calibermod.com</a> )

I've been watching Caliber for a while now, and I think it's probably the only mod with such good graphics at such an early stage.

I wouldn't say that much about it. I mean the models are ok but the design looks awkward in some cases. The skinning leaves much to the imagination, it's all very flat colored with chunks of detail on the models. Maps look good, nice brushwork.

The mod i'm in is in my sig. Although you won't find much new to lookat tat you couldn't see a month ago. A few of our members are getting new PCs, and the modelling has slowed down (most of the media on the page will be obsolete soon). The cool thing is tat we've got some media lined up for release soon. We desperately need coders. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

JKS mod is the best hl2 mod that has been, and will ever be released.

There's Hidden: Source and that other one both out. Hidden: Source has a cool concept but is pretty buggy (in alpha/beta). The other one is apparentley a slower version of CS with roles.

    Personally, I'm watching <a href='http://www.neotokyohq.com' target='_blank'>Neo-Tokyo</a> and <a href='http://www.dystopia-game.com/' target='_blank'>Dystopia</a>. But if you want to find some jsut check around <a href='http://moddb.com/' target='_blank'>ModDB</a>

I'd watch out on that one. I was awaiting it too for UT2kx, and it turned out to be a pretty crappy CS clone with bad models.

    Heres to hoping.

because good graphics at an early stage mean something? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

not that I'm being critical, though. just thinking of the ancient NS screenies

edit: also a word of warning about that neotokyo site. the hl2 bloom mod is nice but sends load times through the roof. use with care.

Graphics don't mean much, but it gives another level of immersion in the game, and makes it seem more promising that the mod will eventaully succeed in getting out a beta to us. The mods with no custom models or crappy ones are more often the ones that die I think... (Seems like that would be the case at least)...

I think that Caliber looks like it will be an isnanely fun game to play. I mean the people who are making it are modeling some of the ideas off of NS, one being resources and tech trees, the other being the little-recoil, and a focus on teamwork.

The models I really think look great. They released the re-skined level2 vamin model semi-recently... It wasn't skinned on the hand yet, but the rest of it looked great. All rust covered and everything...

The next media release should be in the next week or two I think, and they will be showing off a couple new things. I can't wait. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'm far too lazy to link to anything, but Project Hull Breach looks like it will be awesome... though I think in some cases they try to be so realistic they fail at it. Can't hear when your helmet is down? Where are the damn acoustic sensors (AKA microphones) on the suit?

He's asking for mods with playable releases, not ones you think look good.

To answer which, there aren't all that many.

Well... There's StriderMod(which was fun in singleplayer, but I haven't tried out the multiplayer in the new multiplayer-only version), SourceForts, Hidden: Source(which was awesome fun while it lasted)... probably others.

There are like, almost no mods available right now. Have some dang patience or make your own mod; it takes a while man! You can't just crank the things out in a month or two.

Someone's not seen <a href='http://www.forsaken-game.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.forsaken-game.com/</a> then. Take a look at the media section, for a mod early in development, there's definately some excellent work there.

    Also yes, Half Life 2: Jakin' Bacon Source is awesome. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I have to agree with the recommendations of Half-Life 2: Jaykin' Bacon Source. The Hidden has an interesting camo system, yes, but I believe that in the end the cardboard boxes work better.

    Bump

Ive been working with a teaser trailer for an upcoming mod for hl2. Frontline Force is doing a comeback to the source engine, and the trailer got an official release yesterday. So i thought id share it here as well. More info about the mod itself will be released in a few weeks. This was made mainly in mind to soothe the current Frontline Force community. But since that community aint too big, sharing it here might get some interest as well.

    Enjoy the <a href='http://www.frontline2.com/files/flf_c_t1.avi' target='_blank'>Teaser</a>
