We already know it's been liscensed. It's just <a href='http://www.vgcats.com/comics/' target='_blank'>sad to take this obvious look into the future</a> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Why is the US so hellbent on editing Anime and censoring thing?

    I mean, by the age of 8, I have seen blood splattering, head decapitating, incest, thanks to Channel 9 weekend cartoon show and Fist of the North Star and Uthena.

    Kids aren't that naive, the sane ones CAN distinguish facts from fictions.

    I agree with Suredeath for the most part. I played Castle Wolfenstein when I was like 10 and that didn't mean that I started diagonally strafing against walls while jumping up and down trying to open "secret passages". Nor did I attack my German neighbors and their undead-looking dog. Even though I was ten, I understood it was just a game. The same holds true for most other media influences.

    To have more insight into the editing of Anime for US mainstream audience, this <a href='http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/columns/edit-list.php?id=83' target='_blank'>interview</a> with the guy at Cartoon Network who brought anime to it, should help alot.

    An excerpt from it (Do note this interview was like 2-3 yrs ago i think (when Tenchi first came to Cartoon Network)

    Q: Tenchi Muyo had several instances of characters receiving digital bikinis even though they weren't nude (i.e. Mihoshi and Kiyone had digitally applied straps under their towels even though Aeka and Washuu didn't). What was the reason for this?

    A: Well, as you know the majority of our audience is boys 9-14, but we still have a great deal of children 6-11 watching every day. This being the case, even implied nudity- i.e., two ladies talking to one another with nothing but towels on- has to be toned down. It may seem silly to you, but the parents of younger children really demand this sort of thing.

    When half of the time, the kids didn't understand the concept of JUST two women talking to each in only a towel. If parents are going to be like this, just keep your kids in their room without a TV. Good grief. The parents make it worse. "OMFGCOVERYOUREYES!" It only incites curiousity from the kids. yeesh.

    Because most people in the US are under the impression that cartoons are for kids.

    Not saying it's wrong or right, but that's what Average Joe Smith thinks.

    Oh noes!!! nudity!!! bodies are unnatural!
    If people were meant to be nude we'd be born without clothes <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Because even with South Park, Family Guy, and Beavis & Butthead america still strongly believes that any and all forms of animation are meant for children.

    Damn, pardzh beat me to it.
