Computer Troubles
<div class="IPBDescription">Its head 'asplode.</div> So, I had got back from what was the longest, most horrible class I've ever been to and I felt like playing some WoW.
My computer boots up, the game loads, everything is fine. Then all of the sudden my screen just goes black and all my fans turn off as if someone had turned of my computer.. Except, the green power light is still on. Infact, I can't get it to go off, the power button isn't working.
So I use the hard off switch built into the power supply. I turn the power supply back on and try to boot up. The computer won't boot up. I realize then that my computer is boiling hot and something smells.. burnt.
Its been about an hour and a half since that happened. It still won't boot up..
Supposedly my motherboard has an auto shutoff feature to keep my parts from melting, I had earlier assumed that was just the case, but since then all my parts have returned to normal temperature and its still.. dead.
I have no clue what to do <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You didnt have a high end graphics card on a semi old computer did you?
No, only parts that have been added since it was built was a new hard drive, new harddrive cables and a second 512mb stick of ram. The most recent was the ram, put in about 2 months ago, no problems have occured with it and there has never been any issues like this.
I doubt its the graphics card though. The entire machine won't even turn on..
The power supply probably blew up..
All through reading your post, I am somehow thinking that some of the capacitor's one your mainboard blew.
Hopefully the culprit is indeed your PSU. If it is, try to replace with at least one with a recognizeable brand name, to try to avoid future disastrous situations.
I would however proceed with Hive Monger's suggestion and sniff out the parts...and look for the blacken'd PCB as well.
If your motherboard has error codes, try and see if it can make any of them, if it cant, its either motherboard fry or psu fry basically. Make sure there are no loose wires that could be shorting as well, make sure everything is plugged in correctly, and if the mobo can give u and audio or LED error code, that should tell you what part is damaged.
