Yeah, I'm used to playing on NSA's servers (they're in Texas and I'm in Louisiana) so I'm really used to a <60 ping...
it should be moved to where it belongs then. but I really dont know where this topic should be "hidden" at.
there are two important words for me connected to ns:
- mapping
- playing

But you're not the mod, and neither am I ... I merely conveyed their normal policy.
I gave the mappack to the server admin one day before you released your beta 4. and I didnt checked the thread although shiva is one of my favourite ns maps.
I will update the version as fast as possible.
working on ns_enceladus and ns_rust, too.
Im pretty surprised how well the server was filled yesterday. and guess what? I played takeback, marineris, source and shiva... and NOONE ever mentioned any map to be "****" or anything like that. although there were only few players (max. 5 vs 5) it was hell of fun.
IM not shure if this is much of a help but maybe we can coordinate some test-"events" more easily.

updated the map. and its even smaller now.

It's not the layout that I don't like, that is yet to be seen as I haven't had a chance to play some rounds on it, but the visuals.
Some of the repeated themes seem very gimmicky to me, those "slanty-wall with light panel at the top/bottom" cut+pastes are repeated too much and the lighting in places seems more disco than anything else man might have a hand in making.
Mostly these are just moot points as some of the inventive corridor and room structure just makes you stop and stare for a while. That 'underground' tunnel that got so much criticism for being skulk-unfriendly is actually much shorter than it seemed and has plenty of places for skulks to dive into for cover.
I'm really looking forward to playing this sometime, so whenever the NGG server get's full I'll stick on some Bee Gees and mosey on over!
but you are right crispy.
visually the map is ok. but the lighting theme changes from "wow!" to "common." in some places. the real problem with the map we experinced after just ONE round are the paths. you cant tell which route to choose to get to a specific location. thats something I NEVER ever saw on ns maps before. thas why this map isnt anyones favourite.
on the other hand shiva, hulk and marineris are quite popular.
my personal favourite still is ns_hulk with its perfect atmosphere.
one thing is weird: the server seems to be empty most of thetime. but when I join it it fills up to at least 4 vs 4 in no time. o_0
and about ns_thorstation from pleague bearer could be include?
Oh, and Gravman, you shouldn't exclude a map for it's visuals because one of the maps on that cycle has Wall of Mirror effects, bad texture misallignment and boxy walls.
Simply dismissing an entry on its texture set is a bit narrow-minded.
and crispy: thats not narrow minded. because I know how many people would refuse playing this map if I would put it onto the server. "not ns_ecplise part III..." dont get me wrong, thorstation is a great map but noone wants to see the same style of maps over and over again. thats what its all about: NEW stuff. otherwise this server wouldnt make much sense. its not about <b><u><i>I</i></u></b> like it or not. its just a fact that this map would look a lot better if the creator would have used another set of textures.
pb make the new classic shape textures but in a new gameplay and new gameplay must be include and is custon anyways.
why not try?hun come on try it man let the ppl say if they say you remove and let us know what is wrong.
Plaguebearer Im pretty shure more people, especially the vet mappers will like your map when you bring some individualism to it, ergo when using some different texture sets. to prove that I will try the map with a changed ns.wad. Im so damn shure, you wont believe it.

Probably better to have a map-pack for final(ish) releases or very late betas and another with maps that are looking for public playtesting.

funny. if I join the server, I can rely on people joining. only problem: I dont have time to play on it 24/7.
