Siege Maps

<div class="IPBDescription">(so far, don't look theire quality)</div> We all know that there is a demand for siege maps. They have been around for a while and keep coming. Some servers seam to only have sige maps.

I like playing siege maps but overall, I'm disapointed into those that I have played.

To me, for those I played (I haven't played all of them), they look like squared rooms, very little details, almost boring to the eye. They also lack challenge. Sure you have to pass the usual door and rush to theire base or prevent them from coming through it. But that's it.

Are there out there better quality and better challenged siege maps ?

I whish there were sige maps with as much (or close to) details as the average NS maps. I whish there were more obstacles to make you work more to get to that siege room or to even get to either sides. Maybe 3 siege rooms for 3 different located hives would be a simple enough idea to improve to get out of tha usual and too often layout sige maps use (one siege room, one hive room).

I think its mostly because the majority of siege maps are made by new mapers. If experienced mapers would produce 1 or 2 siege maps totaly different then what we are used to, then maybe it would start giving ideas to all those siege mappers ?

What do you think ?

You should check out Sgt Barlows siege map - NS_Siege_Generator. It is not only a well designed siege map, but is so balanced that unless there is a huge skill difference between the teams, the game becomes very close. For instance how many times have the aliens won when the marines are in the siege room and managed to get 1 hive down?

You can on this map, its great fun, the best siege map available without a doubt.
