Hmm. Didn't like it. For reasons that seem to have already been pointed out. It was just too floaty, too many crackrabbits, Double jump standard and the quad-jump mutator. Ons is nice, but only if you get in a vechicle, and you never get a vechicle. And of course, due to the "battlefield" factor, people will generally just grab multi-person vechicles and just take off, without waiting for others to jump in. But even if you could get in, its generally not all that fun. For the most part, the driver gets the best weapon at their disposal, leaving everyone else, people who don't even get the enjoyment of being able to drive the damn thing, with some useless peashooter. and as I said, its only fun in a vechicle. On foot its just too open to do anything with any of the hand held weaponry. You just spam weapons and jump around and hope the other guy dies.
and for the maps without vechicles and wide open spaces.. Well, its just as bad.
oh well. I only bought UT2k4 for the mods. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> I disagree with both you and Legion.

I've always been a huge fan of the UT series, it's what I first started mapping for. It took me a while to get used to the movement in 2k4 (knowing about 2k4, I skipped the redundant 2k3). Now that I'm used to it, I really like, but I'm still glad that they're bringing it back to that unique style in the original. The combo jumps are always fun. Remember, UT is meant to be a fast-paced DM-style game. Trying to fit it into NS standards of 'realism,' as if NS has any, just doesn't work. When I get a hankering for those long, epic games, I usually find myself in an onslaught server. The new conquest mode sounds great. But, however complicated and strategic the game modes are, UT is still a DM game at heart, and it's movement model reflects that.
I have to say, the addition of vehicles was one of the best things they could have done to the series. Some of my best gaming moments are from intense onslaught games, where I literally danced around a goliath in a manta for almost 1 minute, stopping it from getting to the node in time.
