OK, actually the mole doesn’t lick consoles and really it’s just one gem. Apparently, the Xbox 360 will be sold at two price points. For $299 you will get the base system which doesn’t have a hard-drive or backwards compatibility. For another $100 you get the system bundled with some sort of optional add-on which will include WebTv.
Taking a page from the PSP-launch playbook, I’ve been told that about 80 percent of the systems initially produced will be bundled with the add-on. <rant> I don't know how much I can believe this, but $400/$299 for a console?!
So I can play this beast containing a three 3,2GHz cores counting IBM PowerPC-chip, 700MHz GDDR3-memory and an astounding 20GB HDD with a CONTROLLER?!
*shivers*
My pc costed about €400 (not including my screen/keyboard/mouse/headset) and I can do 1001 more things with it than the XBOX360.
I wish they would mod this thing so you can put WinXP/Linux on it and use it as a PC. </rant>
But then again, $400 for such a monstermachine isn't much..

Last night I read an interview on 1up where the head developer of Ninja Gaiden (who, on a side note, is a complete and total stuck-up full-of-himself ****) confirmed Ninja Gaiden 2 is in the works for X-Box 360. This means that I will indeed be purchasing an X-Box 360.
Apparently Xbox games will have to be <b>recompiled</b> to be backwards compatible. <a href='http://gamesindustry.biz/news.php?aid=8996' target='_blank'>http://gamesindustry.biz/news.php?aid=8996</a>
That means that you will not be able to just stick an Xbox game into the Xbox360 and expect it to run. You'll have to download or obtain a disk with a special, Xbox360 version of the Xbox game from MS.
Bad news from Microsoft, especially since the PS3 has full backwards compatibility with the PS2 and PS1, and the Revolution has full backwards compatibility with the GC.

On the bright side, it looks like you can at least get an 'upgrade' of your game for free. As of now MS is insisting they won't charge people for this 'service'.

Man, this year there seems to be a lot of backwards compatibility. It's like some sort of craze.
