<div class="IPBDescription">Pistol Replacement</div> Colt 1911 Pistol Replacement.
Second ever finished Pistol. Third ever finished weapon model. Took me roughly 5 hours.

Needs meshing and skinng plz; I would mesh it myself but the mesh would be crap.

    Get rid of the screws on the grip, they can be added on the skin.

    High poly version because I was bored - I wasn't bothered about the tri count as this one isn't going in-game unless I get mass demand (which won't happen).

    On a more serious note : The normal version without screws on the grip is 1828 tri, does it need to be cut down more ??

    Probably low-poly version, 5k polys is a total waste, I'm just working on it for my graphics portfolio.

    will need separate meshes and skins for both most probably :x

    edit: Updated highpoly version - even though max crashed and i lost the updated .3ds; it was mostly cleaning the model up and trying to decrease the tri count.

    useless meaning "stuff you're never going to see". and that doesn't necessarily mean "omg delete right side of model olo" it means bullets in the top of the clip, the internals of the ejection port (it'll be moving too fast... really.) the notches in the screws are a bit much, especially on the grip where they are likely to be hidden by the hand... stuff like that <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Screws are gone, there's only one bullet in the top of the clip (which is used by the animations to simulate spent casings if i recall correctly) and the 'internals' of the ejection port consists of around 12 faces, the clip (w/ 1 round), and about 12 faces of the slide.

    Apart from that, 1800 polys isn't too bad is it?

    (thanks for the advice though Kaine, bear in mind this is like my second/third weapon model)

    no probs. pretty good for only 2nd/3rd model <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> you don't need to put a bullet in the clip, the spent casings in v_weap animations are a separate model altogether. i think one or two mods (firearms?) changed this, but in NS you don't have to animate the casings with the v_weapon model.

    if its a .45 1911 then the barrel and bullets need to be bigger

    (and before anyone moans about the maps, no i'm not perfect at meshing, but I didn't see anybody else rushing to volunteer themselves. re-map it if you want.)

    only 1 problem with the mesh, slide is a bit under sized. Most importantly the frame is WAY undersized. Frame and slide are the most important, the bigger the size the more detail is much more. I love the model though, If you could fix that problem with the mesh then it would be an excellent uv. I was thinking about skinning a colt with some cool engravings, if you make the frame alot bigger and the slide a little bigger it would be great. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Look at zerobytes mesh on the vektor for an example. Also doing both sides of the frame tbh isnt that necasarry. I just copy and paste one to the other anyway. I'm a bit tired so I hope this made sense.

    Okay :

    Slide - The problem I have is where the aspect ratio of the slide map is 1:1 I can't make it any bigger without stretching the texture. If I made the map 1024x512 would it work/ be okay ?
    Or I could just make the whle map 1024x1024 ?

    Frame - I'm not sure what you mean by 'doing both sides isn't necessary'
    If I only did one side I don't know how I could get the other side of the frame to use that part of the mesh but mirrored ?

    But I'll try and rearrange the meshes a bit. Thanks for the advice.
