Volume Boosting In Windows?

TestamentTestament Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4037Members
I picked up a headset today, along with new RAM, and while havinga headset finally is great, they're not music headphones AND a bit quiet. I have all audio in Windows to max, but is there software to artifically boost that higher? I'm too used to deafeningly loud sound.

No, your soundcard can only put out so much power to push your speakers, hence why most speakers have plugs so they can get a external power supply to boost the power put out by the sound card. You speakers on your headphones just require too much power to make noise, and your sound card cant give enough of that required power.

Now, if you knew anything about electronics, you might be able to make yourself a little battery amp, which might look dumb. Best way is to possably get a new sound card.

Not worth it. My speakers themselves can go so loud they rattle the windows via my PC.

Amplifiers are the way to go, but you're better off changing your hardware (card or headset)

I'd hook the headset up to an amp, but I need to plug in the mic too. I guess I could seperate the wires.

Edit: Nevermind. They're not set up that way. Stupid.

How does that boost volume 100%, output to 3 headphone sets, and double battery life? How's that possible...? Unless they mean it'll double battery life if you don't use the amp/splitter.

I can see what looks like batteries on the bottom side of the unit. I guess they use those batteries to drive the speakers, rather than relying on the music player.

Use Win Amp? You might be able to boost it a LITTLE... but yah, you could be maxing your sound card

Try routing your headset thru your speakers

try fiddling with the equalizer, perhaps putting all the bars to the top?

I have the same problem with my laptop. Using it's internal speakers it's really loud, when i plug in headphones it's failry quiet. My old laptop had an advanced soundscard ouption for "loudness" which boosted all output by 15db

Saves the battery life of the player, but you need more batteries.

The player sends electric signals to the earphones, and the more important the signals, the louder, but the more electricity. Now if you use an amplifier, just set your player to the minimal needed, and boost your amp.

I own a nice little set up, should consider something a little more "high" powered...

    Amazon.com $128.67
    Froogle.com $134.99

P.S. There THX, witch ='s the best, more so than Boss, how so? Well if the movies/imax uses them, they've got to be better.

Don't need new speakers. Mine are fine. I use the headphones 'cuz they're a headset.

    SpeedLink's Medusa 5.1 headset.

I actually use them for gaming myself, so I can vouch for the accuracy of the headphones. They also come with a mini-amp, so you can turn the volume up to 11 should you so wish to.

They cost 40 quid delivered from Play.com at the minute, and are possibly one of the best headsets that I've seen.
