Natural Selection Won't Close On Exit

Im am running it on 1024 x 768 with the following system :
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
GeForce 6800GT OC 256MB
1 Gig of Ram
This is the problem. After a delightful game of nibbling at marines toes and scampering around heavies, I plan on exiting and eating some grub. However, when I click exit, the menu on the bottom left goes away and all I see is that wallpaper, a nicely rendered wallpaper at that, with the two marines about to get ambushed. I go nuts with the keyboard but just end up resetting the whol pc.
If anyone knows a solution or anything please share it. I dun wanna hafta reset the computer every time or even worse, quit playing cuz of this minor draw back. Make shure that you have a directory opened, when playing NS: This allows you to alt-tab and ctr-alt-del in order to stop the hl procces from running. Or you can use the following console command: "gg 20" This will crahs NS, but instead of hanging up it will just close itself <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
