If it works for you, good. It depends on the player. Three hours of trading would make me bored. Some people don't mind. I'm not saying the market doesn't really work as intended, simply that the way it works is a drag for me. Flying the same route over and over for hours... bleh. It all comes down to what you like and what you don't. I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree.

It surely must be the game for some people. Thousands of people, judging by the server population. But I simply logged in one day and looked around and realized that there was nothing interesting keeping me in the game, logged out and never looked back.

Like I said earlier - It's the kind of game you either really like right off the bat and know it, or hate. With a passion.

The heavy menu driven space travel was not my thing, so I quit after a few days on the trial... To much of repeating the same thing over and over again. You know warp to gateX, aproach, jump --> warp to gateY, aproach, jump etc...

    Just a quick question though:

Does this menu driven traveling and repeating the same thing over and over again get any better lateron in the game. Or does it escentially stay the same

I'm considering starting up one more time. The only thing preventing me not to is funding. When I left, I left with a bang. Went into the heart of an alliance enemy and was responsible for over 28 kills. No "destroy your ship and let you live" deal. No. Actual kills. No mercy, no quarter, I killed all pods. Took me three battleships to do it, and they all went down, but I was never podded. I haven't touched Eve since.

However, now that I looked at the player stats and realized that there are over 10k players on at any given time, I am willing to try it again.

This, of course presents a problem. I want a raven. Last I checked, they cost around 110 mil ISK. Not to mention an additional 20 mil for weapons and gear. So my question is this. Does anyone have an extra 130-150 mil ISK they'd be able to spot me to get me started again? I shall repay you in sex, candy, and protection.

Bar missions and events that happen the whole game is player driven. As for content this is properly the mmo where the devs listen the most they are constantly updating the game.

Yes the skills system has it good and bad points, I prefer the skills being like this beacause I dont want to play another GRIND mmo to get to the next level, this system allows me to play the game when I want and how I want it.

As for pilots being in the game longer than you well duh you cant have new players being as good as someone who has been playing for a year, due to the fact the ranks such as level 5 take alot longer to train they are not going to actually have much of a advantage over you even though they have been playing a lot longer comparing lv4->5.

You shouldnt expect to be in the top elite in the first few weeks besides if that was possible you'd miss out on a lot of the game. Your Probe miner ship has such low skills you probally had the skills to use it when you started.

As for eve being a grid mmo, yes to get the biggest things you will have to grind some methods to make some money but comparing to all the other major mmos eve isnt a grind. Compare lv60 in WoW to flying a battleship in eve...

You missed my point... Yes, it's obvious that people who have played longer are going to be better in most games, but in EVE it's even more apparant. If nub A decides, in his battleship since he joined a corp when he started playing a year ago, to come and pod me while I'm in my probe (which happened once) there's nothing I can do about it. He can hunt me down repeatedly and keep on doing it, and there's nothing I can do.

Never mind the fact that if I had the same ship as him, I could beat him soundly (note: I sucked at EVE so this is all theoretical), since he's been playing longer, and it'd take me months just to train the skills up to even GET a battleship, ignoring the immense amounts of playing I'd have to do to even get the money to get a battleship (as well as buy the skills) in the first place. It's very annoying.

Compare that to, say, Planetside (just because it's the only MMO i'm actively playing at the moment). Right from the start, a character can pick up Medium Assault. With that, if they have "teh skillz", they can take on people who have been playing for two years. Because it's skill, not the time frame.

Even SW:G, I was playing for a longer period of time than a friend of mine, but his character was so much better than mine it was shameful (he even went on to Jedi, when it was still relatively hard to get a Jedi slot). While he was out beating the seven shades of **** out of some of the hardest things in the game, my character was still struggling with basic motor skills and on more than one occassion actually shot himself in the face with his pistol. Why? Because my friend was just better at the game. We played together (mostly) but he got to better areas, targeted the right things, knew what to buy, what to sell, when to run and when to fight. He was just more skillfull.

I'm not going to change my opinion that EVE rewards people with far too much time on their hands (which is also a trait of many games, but especially MMOs and especially eve) as well as people who have just been playing longer.
