My Political Views Bring All The Boys To The Yard

<div class="IPBDescription">Damn right, they're better than yours!</div> If this should be in O/T, please move it. I wanted it here because I don't want any "OMG WR1TE ABOUTT SKU:LKZ" type posts.

Anyway, it's Senior year of high-school, and I'm all set to pass my one and only class with flying colors. The only thing I need to do is to show up and have a pulse.

Yet, there's still one more assignment before the end of the year: Sum up your political views on 15 issues, along with a short synopsis on how your ideal public policy should balance freedom, equality, and order in a society.

I'm having some fun with it, and I want you guys and gals to help me make it over the top.

Political Ideology:

Freedom, equality, and order are all necessary components of a successful state. However, freedom and equality follow where there is a strong presence of order. People will all be treated equally under the compassionate care of the government, and freedom will follow when people act within the bounds of the law.

1. Taxes
Taxes are necessary for the operation of a strong national government. Therefore, federal income tax should be set at 95%. This way, people have incentive to keep working to gain wealth, and the state benifits, and can in turn provide for people's needs. The basics of food, water and shelter will be provided to the people by the Ministry of Love[1].

2. Social Security
People are entitled to a comfortable and safe retirement, therefore, after ninety (90) working years, a citizen's needs will be taken care of, without need for continued work. Should a citizen wish to retire earlyer, they may spend fifty (50) working years in the Alaskan Uranium Mines[2], and retire with full benifits.

3. Health Care
Since all illnesses are results of people's own horrible work attitudes, the State will not cover health care for citizens who have not demonstrated a healthy work ethic by working for fourty-five (45) years without a single sick day.

4. Environment
The environment should be protected to provide equal enjoyment of our Earth's resources to each and every citizen. For that reason, littering, or any damage caused to the environment, is punishable by fourty-five (45) years in the Alaskan Uranium Mines[2].

5. Legalization of Drugs
Drugs are harmful to the people's ability to serve the state. Therefore, the following substances are banned, use of any of them shall be punishable by fifteen (15) years in the Alaskan Uranium Mines: THC, Crack, Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamines, and Tang©[3]

6. School Vouchers
Since an ordered state is required, all students must be exposed to the same ideals, and also treated equally under the law. Therefore, not only are school vouchers banned, but learning outside of school is also punishable by fifteen (15) years in the Alaskan Uranium Mines.

7. Affirmative Action
Affirmative action will be un-needed, since all jobs will be assigned by the Office of Homeland Productivity[4].

8. Gun Control
The right to people to bear arms is needed for their freedom. However, for a well-ordered state to exist, the President must have ample space to expand his mansion onto, even if at times that intrudes on public housing. However, since all public needs are taken care of by the Ministry of Love, the need for people to protect their property through the bearing of arms is un-necessary.

9 Abortion
The issue of abortion should be left to the states. <span style='color:red'>I thought this was funny when I wrote it, but I think it needs to be changed.</span>

10. Immigration
The country should have free and unrestricted borders to those that hope to come to this country to find work. However, those attempting to leave the country without proper documentation should be sentanced to fifteen years in the Alaskan Uranium Mines.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

As you can see, I'm going for shockingly Orwellian. If you have any suggestions on ways to make this even better, or want to add on to this with another issue or two to write about, that'd be super, thanks in advance. (EDIT: I know there's a few typos in here, I did it on my Palm and just hotsynced it, they'll be fixed in the final copy)

I don't think number 8 fits well with an Orwellian society. You should say something about how guns are completely unnecessary, because in your society, there is no crime and everyone is happy.

For 9, you could bring Brave New World into it. Write that abortion is moot, since all children will be manufactured in government vats, in order to ensure that every member of society should be engineered to perfection.

Is your teacher ok with you cheating like this?

You forgot the issue of how to deal with privacy to enforce these glorious rules. Clearly what we like to call "civil rights" of the citizens, for their own good of course, need to be revoked in order to insure the order of the state.....

I think I'll most likely fail the project anyway, I doubt he'll check. If he does, hi Mr. K!

    Nice suggestions though, thanks.

You should attach a copy of 1984 to your paper for added zing.

Oh okay, that's not quite the same thing as slacking off all year, eh?

    it probably is still slacking

those uranium mines will fill up pretty quick, you might have to put one in death valley too, and allow transfers between mines.

Those pills which keep you awake should be mandatory. Work hours could increase as a result.

Oh, and damn right your political views are better than mine. Could you teach me? Would you have to charge?

Well, the more people working the mines, the bigger the mines become <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. 'Tis the beauty of it.

Paper turned in, we'll see what the reaction is.
