<div class="IPBDescription">Vote your choice</div> <b><u>Mantrid</b></u>
Slots: 18
Wolves: 4
Comments: Seer, Psychic, Lovers.

There are two Lovers. If one of them dies, the other dies immediatly
from sadness. Lovers are randomly picked, so it is possible that a
wolf and a civilian may be lovers.

<b><u>Isamil</b></u>
Number of slots: 18
Number of wolves: 4
Comments:If the seer seers a wolf, the wolves will be told which one
of them was seered. This will allow the wolves to prepare for an
attack, and help find the seer.

<b><u>Sky</u></b>
Number of slots: 23
Number of wolves: 3
Comments:

Alright, time for something different. Guardian's out. Seer and
psychic remain as their normal roles. In the guardian's place, I want
to insert one player as the "psychopath" or whatever the 'official'
term is. This person's job: to kill everyone else and be the last man
standing. How it works: every night, both the wolves and the
"psychopath" will pm me the people they want to kill. If they are
different, good for them, both targets are killed, move onto the next
day. However, if they try to kill the same person, the killing is
botched and one of the wolves or the psychopath is randomly killed as
well as the original target. The humans won't know which player was
killed which way.

To make things even more interesting, the psychic won't know which
player was killed by which role, so if he gets a pm saying that one
wolf was killed, he won't know which one was the wolf. Also, he'll be
told at the beginning of the game that there are "3 wolves remaining",
so he won't know when the psychopath has died, at least right away. Of
course, that should be pretty easy to tell anyway, given that if the
psychopath dies, the number of killings each night drops to one. This
might put some tension on a psychic-seer alliance if the psychic
doesn't see the number of wolves drop after a seer leads a vote
against a confirmed wolf.

If the seer seers the psychopath, he'll be told that he is a wolf.
Adds another layer of confusion that I like.

Humans win if they kill all the wolves AND the psychopath. Wolves win
if they outnumber the humans, AND the psychopath has been killed (he's
a danger to everyone, including the wolves). Psychopath wins if he
goes into the final night alone with a human, because he'll obviously
kill that last human and win. If a psychopath and a wolf go into the
last night together, then the game will be decided by coin flip.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was going to apply myself but I decided I'm going to be much too busy this next while to host another game.

I'd like something a little different to happen this time around. During pre-game, all players should have authenticated IRC accounts. I would like all the game players to have Peon status so this time the channel can remain unlocked and open for spectators.

Once again, #ns-twg on irc.gamesurge.net

I´d vote for <b>sky</b>, since that sounds the most confusing, fun and mind boogeling ^^

I think <b>Sky's</b> sounds the most interesting right now. I find that Isamil's idea may give the wolves too much power, and I don't really like the fact that you die because another person was killed.

I'll be joining next game, of course.

I've made it clear enough that I don't want a guardian, which narrows it down to Mantrid and Sky. I wish the psychopath showed up as a human for the seer, but I still like <b>Sky</b>'s version the best.

Edit: When does the day end?

When reading the previous games thread (twg appeals to me) I'd thought about something like the lovers as well except my variation was that at any time if two people declared their 'love' for each other (or whatever, their willingness to join) then they are now considered as one unit when it comes to kills.

It'd make for some interesting strategies as people joined up with others to grant themselves some limited immunity and/or prove their humanity. Obviously the guardian role should still exist in this situation as it is far more effecient to kill 2 instead of one, however if you are joined with a wolf then that means you can't be killed just as the wolf can't be voted off. Also people that pair up with the guardian can't be guarded either.

    Hmm...
i'm going to vote Sky too, not because I'm amazingly keen on the pyschopath idea as I'm not sure I like it at all. However it has more slots which means that I might play without pushing a regular out (if I decide to play that is, not sure if I have the time to commit to it, I think I can manage but I'm getting guild wars soon. Forum posting wouldn't be a problem though).

[Edit] No, actually I'm going to vote for <b>Isamil</b> because I like guardians, I don't think it matters if they save someone, the point is it makes wolfing someone that bit more complex, after all as soon as a role becomes obvious they are going to be eaten aren't they.

The only one that sounds appealing to me is <b>Isamil's</b> idea.

Mantrid's sounds too wolf-biased: Not only can the wolves kill whoever they want without any fear of the guardian; but the humans will most probably lose two players for the price of one at some point in the game. Since the humans far outnumber the wolves, chances are that the lovers will both be humans.

Sky's is just too big on wholesale killing. I'm most likely to be a human, once again, and it sounds like being a human will really really suck.

So I'm not even sure whether I'll be playing this round or not, but if I do, it's only if <b>Isamil</b> is hosting.

No set ending time for the voting. When it doesn't look like anyone else is going to vote or someone has a vast majority of votes it can end.

Mantrid's idea does not sit well with me, while Isamil seems to have the best idea. On the other hand, <b>Sky</b> has such a crazy idea that i have to vote for him, just out of general principle. If i have time to play, this should be <i>really</i> interesting.

Mantrid. I always liked the 'lovers' idea.

I think five games have proven that the wolves are seriously underpowered.

I can't vote vote Isamil, because I don't think that one extra piece of information will be enough to balance the sides.

Mantrid's idea removes the guardian and adds a small gimmick which may or may not play a part in the game at all.

Sky is effectively introducing the Vigilante character described on the Mafia website. I really have no clue what effect that will have on the game, or which way the scales will tip, but I think we can guarantee that it'll be interesting...

    <b>Sky</b>

Wolves aren't underpowered. Humans have just had great luck. The wolves came very very close to winning the last two. The Guardian succeeding and the lack of killing the Seer until late game has been a great hinderence for the wolves.

This is purely based from memory but I believe the Vigilante actually kills a player of their choice only once at any point during any day, which in turn suddenly ends the day.
  • im_lostim_lost TWG Rule Guru Join Date: 2003-04-26 Member: 15861Members
The vigilante kills a player during the night. They are on the side of the humans. The serial killer kills someone of their choice during the night, but they are on their own team, and in this case, they apparently show up as a wolf to the seer (which contradicts the stuff on the princeton site, but there's nothing wrong with new variations). I can't think of any role that does what you described Freak83, but I could just be forgetting one of them.

For the sign ups (when it starts) I was wondering if they could make it maybe like 2 days. 2 different sign ups per day (Like sign up around the morning, the 8 hours later more sign ups, repeat the next day). So 24 slots, 12 slots a day (split into 6 slots).

Also sky's idea seems to make humans have a tough chance of winning, it'll be interesting.
  • im_lostim_lost TWG Rule Guru Join Date: 2003-04-26 Member: 15861Members
The serial killer (I'm probably going to end up using that interchangibly with psychopath quite often) is quite interesting, especially if he lives into the later game. He has to target humans to begin with, because there are so many. Later on, he may end up going after wolves instead. Does he kill the seer and psychic as soon as he figures out who they are, or does he hope that they will lead him to wolves first, then kill them off? The wolves probably don't want to kill the serial killer early on, because then the humans wouldn't die off nearly as fast. However, later on the serial killer could become the primary target. I think the three separate groups leads to a decent chance for both the wovles and the humans. However, I think the serial killer has almost no chance of winning if the seer doesn't die early (which I guess could easily happen with two deaths per night).

Seems like a pretty good idea, sky.

    Mantrid - 2 (Isamil, Quaunaut)
Isamil - 3 (CMEast, lolfighter, Pulse)
Sky - 8 (Pithlit, brute force, im lost, Petco, TheMuffinMan, Omegaman!, Xentor, Fatal Error)

I figured Quaunaut's was pretty obvious even if it wasn't bolded. Still can't decide whether I should play or not but either way I'll be reading the thread. What do you guys reckon?

If you want to play then go for it.

It looks as if Sky is going to win this. I'll be back from work in a few hours, if there's no big change in the outcome by then Sky will be the next TWG host.
  • IsamilIsamil Join Date: 2003-11-25 Member: 23552Members, Constellation
Pretty much all of the TWG games have been won because of the seer. My idea makes it easier for the wolves to figure out who the seer is.

I guess we must do Isamil's then, because he is Sky, in spirit.

Damn, this is some strong stuff.
