    Wrong again

In all sense of practicality, it would be rendered useless without it's satellites. Yes, it could still run, but that's about it. Don't make me show you what all it needs satellites for....

It only rEALLY needs it for launching ICBM's

it can use it's last known location + logs of dautum, speed, and heading to calculate where it is and keep track via map co-ordinates and active sonar

Satellite radio, satellite navigation, satellite for the ICBMs ... the short list says satellites PWN the Typhoon class. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> My satellites just made your Typhoon class "just another sub".

    Depot..*sighs*

They use more than just that

however, their radio works without satelites as well (SSIX bouys, ELF, HF, VHF, Sub to Sub Comms, inter sub radio, ect).

ICBM's can navigate via pre-programmed input, terrain mapping technology, and gyrostabilization technology. They won't be as accurate, but they'll get the job done (eg, WITH satelites, a Tomohawk will hit the target window of the target floor of the target building, without satelites, it'll hit the building)

Navigation can be done as I said before.... maps, last known location, and bearing/rate/distance calculations.

Any other reasons I can rebute?

    Also-

BulletHead, again, without the satellites it's just another sub. Yes it runs and can even attack. But it most certainly has lost it's edge. ;)

Depot, it has the advantage of being DURABLE, POWERFUL, QUIET, and FAST.

It has excelent sonar abilities. It fires torpedos that are BIGGER and FASTER than even our Mark 48 ADCAP. Only we can trick them with countermeasures.

It can launch anti-ship cruise missiles.

    It's not JUST another sub...

it has been proven that even TWO Mark 48 ADCAPs will NOT take out a Typhoon. The first impact will DENT, not rupture, the OUTER hull. The second will puncture it even if it only exploads nearby, the pressure wave will be enough. THEN you have the water BETWEEN the two layers, which acts as a layer of armor. And THEN you have the INNER hull to worry about. Even with it's two MAIN ballast tanks ruptured, it has enough reserve ballast to surface!

There IS a counter- the Mark 50, who's designation I forget. It utilizes a SHAPED charge, and is a direct counter to the Typhoon, the Akula II, the Alfa, and the Alfa II. All of which have SOLID TITANIUM exterior hulls. The shaped charge directs the explosion down into a sort of IMPLOSION.

I'm not doing anything Metalcat, I have given my justifications. Let the chips fall where they may, I really don't care.
