Quick note to you all:

being the short sighted, inconsiderate person that I tend to be sometimes - I didn't think very much when I posted the original message.

This is an apology to Flayra and Co.

Firstly, I've been talking to flayra via email, back and forth, for a little while and my comment about him not replying to me was very tongue in cheek. However, it may not have been taken that way by those who were unaware that I had been talking to him.

Secondly, that original post was worded really really badly and presented Flayra with little or no options (whether he liked the textures or not). I should have contacted him privately if I was going to hinge the release of my textures on his decision.

So, just a big sorry in general to Flayra, Cory, and Co.

I don't see why he'd dislike extra custom textures. I see many people complain about the ns.wad not being enough. So, without taking time from the mod developers, many mappers are helped out. I can't see the problems with that. I say go ahead and release the wad.

yolmer, my point was whether flayra wanted to put the wad in the official "ns.wad" or whether it should just be a suppliment...that's all....no dramas

OK, Cory and I have talked a bit how we want this to work. I think it's best if we put the textures we created into ns.wad and put all other textures into other .wads. The big reason for doing this so if we suddenly find ourselves in a position to put NS in a box or otherwise officially claim it's contents as of our own creation, we need an easy way to be sure that we're selling someone else's work. With contents like this .wad, we can't guarantee that the contents are royalty-free, and we can't spend time making sure that it is. That doesn't mean people shouldn't use it though, and we definitely encourage people to create their own textures. The only textures that will be going in ns.wad though, are ones that the team has created specifically for NS.

So, you should definitely release your .wad. I think that if maps that are using this .wad are accepted as official NS maps, we can either decide to make sure the textures are royaltee-free and distribute the .wad with NS, or we can replace the textures with those of our own creation, so we can be sure not to get into legal troubles.

Thanks, I hope this clears things up!
