Go for a 3500+ if you can. I think that one gives you the most bang for your buck at the moment. Just make sure the motherboard got PCI-express (possibly two if you want to be a bit more future-proof) and that the GFX card is a PCI-e card. Also, what speed on that RAM?

Also doesn't having 2GB of RAM usually slow it down or do some other detremental effect?

Also I would add a Creative Labs soundcard to that. But only because I'm a sucker for EAX 4. (DOOM 3 just introduced it in the newest patch. And the game sounds so much better )

Didnt want to pay the extra for PCI-e, already got a AGP card for like 90 bucks, im building around that... The RAM is DDR PC3200 400mhz at 2048MB, aka 2.048GB.

This was fixed in WinXP if I remember correctly.

Eh? 2048MB is exactly 2GB.

I think the case fits, its a little over the top, but almost in a good way.

You picked a decent "any ol' mobo", which is good (high performance cards and chips linked together with a low performance motherboard won't make you happy). Though with any athlon 64 system I would reccomend PCI-E. It will likely be 20 or 30 bucks more, but its probably worth it. Much better upgrading potential, and more GPU bandwidth. The problem only would be both the card and mobo would be a little more expensive.

CPU is decent, u get the benifit with a 64 bit app, but not much bonus speed, though ive heard great things about OC potential (as long as its a Venice core (none specified).

Decent choice on the RAM, consider 4x 512 sticks (since 2GB will be enough for a few years to come) and consider going with a 2.5 latency stick, these 3 latency sticks are okay, but if u want 3 CAS u can spend 40 bucks less and get it. Your paying a 2.5 CAS price for 3 CAS.

LOL any ol' cpu fan, looks pretty massive . As long as u dont mind the noise (31 dB is a bit much for me) you'll enjoy it. Its no-name brand, but construction seems legit, all copper, 3 heatpipe exct.

The 6800 is a pretty good price (counting the rebate), but PCI-E is always nice

If you want a second try at cheap prices, I would reccomend looking at newegg and zipzoomfly.

Hope that helps.

[EDIT]
More ram speeds ur compy up. Just u have to use XP with windows because i think everything before ME dosen't correctly support more than 512MB of ram. (though ME probably works with it, ive heard it blows chunks.)
