Most 'texture corruption bugs' are just poly-offsets being set to zero. The card tries to render both, and you end up with (usually) diagonal stripes that move around on the 'mistextured' face.
Sad part is, the card and drivers are doing it right.. it's the game that's screwed up. I'm getting a lot of this in GunZ, as an example. But of course, game developers kowtow to nVidia still.... I'm not sure why, given how their marketshare is dwindling... and put in the wrong code, just allowing the card to try and sort it out. Ugh. Lazy, lazy programmers!
- Doom3: A performance gain of up to 7% is noticed at lower resolutions as a result of more efficient memory use - Chronicles of Riddick: A performance gain of up to 10% is noticed as a result of more efficient storage of vertex data - Halo: A performance gain of up to 20% is noticed as a result of generic driver Z-optimizations - 3DMark05: A performance gain of up to 5% is noticed as a result of generic driver Z-optimizations - Full WMV9 acceleration
not much of a update... but if you have any of those games and still play them worth a download
Oh - I assumed it had been out for a while when I stumbled across it today (HL2 launcher telling me my drivers were out of date). That 20% performance boost for Halo was enough to make me reinstall it, and oddly enough this time I'm actually enjoying Halo.

Also known as z-fighting and results due to the finite precision of the Z-buffer. It can also happen with decals where 'polygon offset' is not 0 but close to it.

It's because nVidia has better developer relations than ATi('better' usually meaning they pay cash to brand the game as a TWIWMTBP product and for the developer to implement some nvidia only features.)
And yes geforce FX was a travesty, but geforce 6x00 is a much better product. Nvidia has by quite far the majority of market share in the high end but I haven't taken a look at the low end recently(one thing is certain, the very low end is still dominated by intel)
<span style='color:red'>READ THIS IF YOUR GETTING BF2</span>
BF2 will not work right with these new drivers, they suggest that you roll back to 5.1 if you get graphics corruption problems. ATI is working on a new driver patch for this. So there. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

These days people don't really do that sort of courtesy, like post formatting or color coding or linking. A good exampled would be Steel Troll's maplestory thread. My god if it doesn't come within inches of installing and patching / modding maplestory for you.
