<div class="IPBDescription">Check out this HL2 mod!</div> <a href='http://mods.moddb.com/4208/' target='_blank'>http://mods.moddb.com/4208/</a>

This is my contribution to the HL2 community, I have little to say about it here, but so far I feel my mod has a lot of promise, and so do many others, I have posted two of our now skinned models, to enjoy the company of most of our renders which occupy TCC's moddb page, our site is currently down due to a server reformat, but will be back up in a few weeks.

    Buh....

Definatly nothing special as far as the models go. Do you have any coding done? How big is your team, how much experiance do they have?

Those models also look really low poly considering it's source.

    Come back when it's done...

Do you have any coding done?
no, unless you count setting up ragdolls and transferring our models into the game, but we have no coders to make the stuff work.

    How big is your team
    2 people, me and retrocide

how much experiance do they have?
I have over a year's experience making skins for models, and retrocide has about the same amount of experience in making them.

A couple modelers is not a mod team, you can dream, but don't get too upset when this doesn't work out.

our mod is very early in development if you havent noticed yet, most mods dont immediately accumulate team members.

And most mods don't get anywhere without coders, and skilled team members. Look at how many mods there are on moddb, 90% will never be more than some model renders.

Prove me wrong, but I'd like to see a lot more than a few low poly model renders before I'll give your 'mod' any sort of credit. By releasing screens this early, you are only telling me that this mod will never be released because, and you want to show off your 1337 skillz by making a couple models and throwing them up on moddb.

I feel stupid for bringing up an old adage, but I feel it's rather appropriate. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I'm looking at you Caboose.

Why, Sirus? Caboose has a point. Too many people go "OMG LOOK AT MY LEET MOD!" and their team consists of a web designer, maybe a modeller, very rarely a (barely competent) skinner, and their team will never get bigger.

Although Caboose is beeing a bit harsh (lately?) he does have a point.

It's like saying you quit smoking when you haven't smoked for two days.

What, you want me to lie to him?

    Ok.

I see great potential in your 2 skinned low poly weapons! GJ Vader! I can't wait to play this 1337 s4uc3 mod!

As you can plainly see, Sirus did NOT want you to lie to him. What part of that escaped you?

There's no need to point out what you see as the inevitable, because if it's really that inevitable, it'll happen anyway and he'll see it for himself when the time comes. And if it doesn't happen, you stand there looking like an idiot while he can rightfully lord it over you.
Instead of being a spoilsport, the correct response would have been none at all. But no, you had to tear into him. Is it because you want to be able to say "I told you so" with a triumphant expression later on? Does the failure of others satisfy you?

And if it had only been a single post. Your first post left Vader6 unfazed, he just responded to what you brought up without getting all downcast over the failure and despair you had foreseen for him. WE CAN'T HAVE THAT! So you continued. What will it take to satisfy you? Do you want him to post pictures of himself sitting crying before his webcam while trying to get the fragments of his shattered dreams to stop hurting him? Is that what you want? What IS IT you want? Oh sure, you're probably right about what you posted - but are you helping this guy, or are you trying to spoil things for him?

Because In magical happy fantasy land nobodys feelings are ever hurt and we fart candy canes and burp gumdrops oh what a delicious life this is

Commie, are you so fat you'd eat candy canes in that land?
  • CommunistWithAGunCommunistWithAGun Local Propaganda Guy Join Date: 2003-04-30 Member: 15953Members
    sure why the hell not

I guess in Magical Happy Fantasy Land, people don't feel a need to put others down. That's probably why it's such a boring place, candy farting aside.

well... negative comments aside I would go with the advice that you should seek out a coder before you really start announcing a mod :3

It's hard to really finalize anything without knowing what the girl/guy coding the gubbinz of your game is capable of or even without their knowledge of how possible something is within the confines of the engine you're working with ^^

Good luck with the mod either way but I really do think you should get yourself a lil coder in the mix before you start putting up the billboard ads :p
