Ram Problem

<div class="IPBDescription">won't boot</div> So I bought a second stick of Corsair Value select pc3200 512 mb ram today. This stick is identical to what I have in there right now. The motherboard I have is an Asus P4C800. I put the RAM into the slot directly beside the current one, turned the computer on... the fans and everything switch on, but nothing comes up on the screen. I figure I put it in the wrong slot (There are 4 slots) so I shut down, try it in the other slot... still nothing. So I think, maybe the ram is dead. So I take the working piece out, and put the new piece in by itself....Computer boots up fine. So this is where I'am confused, I've been re-arranging the ram multiple times but still... nothing. It refuses to boot with more then one piece of ram inside of it. Also, it doesn't help that I have lost my motherboard manual, or that Asus's website doesn't offer downloadable manuals either.

So, what am I doing wrong? Anybody have a similar motherboard and still have their manual lying around who can scan/read me what I'm supposed to be doing?

Check if there has to be a special setting for the dual channel mode. For me, it's slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 3, but check the manual for any help. I'm sure you can find the manual somewhere. So the two rams work fine on their own then heh?

Well I've tried the RAM in every configuration I can think of, and still have nothing at all. Also, the manual isn't hosted anywhere online.

This is really **** me off...

    I found the manuals online:

    <a href='ftp://ftp.asus.de/pub/ASUSCOM/HANDBUCH/Motherboard/Socket_478/INTEL_Chipset/' target='_blank'>ftp://ftp.asus.de/pub/ASUSCOM/HANDBUCH/Mo.../INTEL_Chipset/</a>

    These manuals are english btw.

Edit: The e-deluxe or the deluxe edition?

    Thanks Tyrain.

Well I looked though the PDF manual, and... turns out it doesn't answer my questions either.

Also, I get no beep code or anything when the computer starts up with both sticks in (And I know my speaker works because it beeps when the computer turns on normally)...

Perhaps the ram sticks aren't actually the exact same... they both have the same serial code/product code on them. Though one I bought off newegg and one I bought from a store...

Agh, damnit, I don't want to spend more money to buy stuff.

Do you have dual channel memory?

No beep means that the power on self-test fails. Sadly, you're not getting any beeps at all, since assorted beeping noises during the POST could point towards the problem. Except that in your case, the problem is obvious: Something about your mainboard and having two sticks of RAM in it.

You say that ASUS doesn't offer downloadable manuals. I'll assume that you have tried it already, but if not, check their site for "common problems" or "frequently asked questions" and such.
