<div class="IPBDescription">The Retcons! (picture/rock heavy)</div> Recently, my creative talents have yearned to be put to use. After much soul searching, I joined a band. Teaming up with 2 of my extremely geeky friends, we decided to become a force for good in the world of Rock N Roll. Since we are all huge geeks, and we all hate evil, we decided to become superheroes and sing about superheroes. Enter: the world's first comic-book themed band The Retcons. First we took some promo pictures.

From left to right: Mild Mannered Chris with the power to have absolutely no superpowers, The Bito (me) with the power to blind evil-doers with lime green fashion, and Captain Cool with the power to rock out so hard he needs to wear a road cone to contain it.

In this promo picture, Captain Cool and The Bito show off their awesome by creeping up on some evil off camera, while Mild Mannered Chris looks regal. TA DA!
Later, we recorded some songs in a basement. Anyone who knows comic books will chuckle. Anyone who knows music will cringe.
<a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/01%20-%20Hawkeye's%20Dead%20(Get%20Over%20It!).mp3' target='_blank'>Hawkeye's Dead (Get Over It)</a> A song about how stupid internet fanboys are.
<a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/02%20-%20Cable%20Did%20It.mp3' target='_blank'>Cable Did It</a> A dedication to the original Retcon, Nathan "Cable" Summers, whitout whom the Marvel universe would have no deus ex machina to fill in random plot holes.
<a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/03%20-%20If%20I%20Was%20An%20Xman.mp3' target='_blank'>If I Was An X-Man</a> Featuring The Bito (that's me) on vocals, a ballad sung from the point of view of Aquaman, wanting to fulfill his secret dream.
Then (last Saturday) we had our first show. Let us say that The Retcons seriously rocked some major socks. Click on the links below for pictures.
We looked pretty damned <a href='http://howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/thebito.jpg' target='_blank'>sexy</a> in <a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/MMCandCC.jpg' target='_blank'>costume</a>
We actually got the crowd to <a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/dancin.jpg' target='_blank'>dance</a>, which is pretty hard for a first-time band.
We seriously <a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/retconsrock.jpg' target='_blank'>rocked</a> the house with boatloads of <a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/scream.jpg' target='_blank'>awesomeness</a>, and generally had <a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/funlovin.jpg' target='_blank'>a metric ton of fun.</a>
Then finally, we finished off with If I Was An X-Man, handing the mic over to The Bito, and allowing for what I think may be one of the greatest pictures of anything <a href='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/Retcons/thebitosings.jpg' target='_blank'>EVAR.</a> Plus it has the chick in pink with the large boobs but scary face who liked to dance.
So anyways, to all you musical common-sewers out there, whaddayasay? Is the universe ready for the awesome power of The Retcons?

But as far as the other two go, pretty decent actually. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And thanks man, given that I actually kinda respect your taste in music from what I seen of your tastes, that makes me happy.
I couldn't understand the lyrics in the first song.
I'd totally buy your CD if the recording was a little more clear, but the quality is understandable. Awesome job.
I'm going to "If I Was an X-Man," a couple more times.
Sounds good. You guys are pretty cool. I welcome you to live next to the pine tree in my back yard. It's very nice there. You'll like it. And bring the pudgy girl.
I was actually quite suprised about the quality, considering everything was recorded on one mic (two takes, instrumental and vocal) and a copy of goldwave. My basement apparently lends itself to good acoustics.
Edit: See if you can get a separate mic for the vocalist, and maybe find someone to play keyboard. "Cable Did It" would be perfect with some synthesizer effects or something.
And most of all, <i>keep it up</i>. That rocked way hard, and I can't wait to hear what your band cooks up next.
I'm trying to get some of my friends to learn the Guitar and Bass so we can start a band too. So far no luck, just hoping I'll have better luck with that in University next year.
You just revealed my secret identity! Lex Luthor will leak it to the press and then I'll be undone!!
Maybe I'll write a song about Morpheus from spiderman trying to find a girlfriend. That would be a pretty good song for you. Heh.

The thought has been tossed around more than once, the original plan was to get someone to peck out melodies on my Casio VL-Tone (look it up) but we couldn't find anyone.
But seriously, if it doesn't have a verse structure that lends itself to songs reminiscent of Canturbury tales, I can't write for it. And very few good songs do.
Edit: and your vocals are the best evar. Not at all what I'd have expected <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
music wasnt too bad.. just not really my style.. not into the singing about superhero stuff and dressing up all sexy... i like it hardcore..
That intro has actually changed since the recording, like two minutes before the show it was decided to play the arpegio of the first chord really slowly before actually playing the first chord, so it has this really wispy feel like a love song or something, then after a really quiet count-off BAM we hit 'em with the recorded intro. It's hot.
3rd one I really liked tho <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
