Has anyone noticed that the bile bomb now does like 4 damage to buildings..? I hope they fix it soon <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

It doesn´t seem to do any damage for me.......
I stayed for a couple of minutes trying my best to aim properly and nothing happens. Then i just switch to Acid´s and it´s gone in the same amount time as it was supposed to take when at full health.....!?
Bile bomb works fine for me, takes roughly 4-6 good shtos to take out a <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='turret.gif'><!--endemo-->. Just remember the bomb itself arcs, so you often have to think a little about projectile motion <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

What excactly is the best place to hit the <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='turret.gif'><!--endemo--> ? I tried at the feet and all the way up to the top without much success.
I try to hit right in front of it, that way to guarantee a hit with the splash damage. Sometimes targetting turrets is odd. Not everywhere you hit them necessarily does damage, and it seems that often the parts that you can't damage, block the damage from the bomb, if that makes sense. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

Generally I am as far away as possible to maximize my splash damage and minimize my risk. Often I shoot walls where the splash damage will hurt buildings, but the turrets lack LOS. It really just takes a little bit of personal style to get use to.
I believe you are talking about a server in tournament mode (that is where I saw it. Frieldy fire was enabled and I got the damage scores)
When I was firing bile bomb I was hitting for I believe 60-80 on a whole mass of buildings, possibly more, and I ALWAYS play as a fade when we have 3 Hives. I have never had a problem with a bile bomb, except for that explanation I gave on how turret targetting can be screwy.
Tourny mode doesn't need to be on to enable that feature I believe...
Edit: Oh yeah and bile bomb wasn't working well for me either. I don't know why, the marines were not healing them(so I believe(no welder sounds and I was pretty close)).
Actually I've never had it work nicely for me either. It got to the point where I found an unguarded marine turret forest and started to spam bile bombs into it. No turrets ever died. I did this for long enough for marines to find me. The strange thing is THE MaRINES who were eventaully standing inside their turret forest died from my bile bombs, but the turrets never did.

I just came back from a game and i still say they don´t work on buildings at all for me. I had taken down the turret factory, was all alone so i had plenty of time to experiment and check the health of the turret after each throw. No changes. I ended up ripping them to pieces out of frustration.
And another thing. We had all 3 Hives and no matter what i did, i couldn´t Blink. Everyone around me where blinking like mad people (their base was almost down) and having fun, but i couldn´t!? What gives?
I've noticed that a bit as well. Today me and another fade were bombing 4 turrets constantly (taking turns to regen and get energy back) for about 2 minutes. They never fell. There was noone welding them. They just wouldn't die. Finally we just both ran in and started ripping them up, and they were all green when we started attacking.
On a side note, i was hitting them on the gun part of the sentry most of the time. Maybe its a hitbox issue or something?
I've played on a few servers with the damage bubbles turned on and notice that bile bombs have to be used with some real precision to be particularly effective and their damage tapers off very rapidly. Hit something directly and you end up with a little under 100 damage. Miss and hit the ground behind it and do like 5 pts of damage. The real nice thing about bile bombs is that they do have a fairly large splash radius - you can shoot a bunch of them into a nest of marine turrets and damage most of them in the room. That'll take a bit of work welding! Ultimately, I think bile bombs are best at just softening up defences for a push.

also, what feature is this that you speak of that shows dammage done? Is that in console? I.E. "you hit turret with bile bomb for 50 points of dammage" message?
You see a little red text float above the target, displaying how much damage you did.
Also, I watched two Fades launch Bile Bombs at a cluster of turrets for well over a minute, and they did absolutely no damage to them. The turrets just wound up killing the Fades.

And thanks for the Blinking tips i´ll try it tomorrow.
I would just like to add that this happened to me also today. I was fade and tossed a ton of bile bombs right next to a sentry turret. It refused to die. So I ran up and started slashing it. At this point I could see that the health circle was still at green! I had barely damaged it.
I too have taken out a turret factory to experiment with bile bomb... I must have shot 50 bombs at those turrets to see if it worked... they were the exact same as when I checked them. I ended up slashing those turrets apart. So yeah, I think there definitely is something wrong with BB.
Yeah the bilebomb doesn't really work like it should. I mean come on it took me like 40 or so just to destroy one freaking turrret. I just hope you fix this annoying bug.

bilebomb is kinda useless vs buidings sometimes,i dunno whether it's me or not but i hit a cluster of turrets (4 of them at least) for like 20 times and they're still standing there til some marines with a HMG and HA came in and <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='turret.gif'><!--endemo--> my <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> off <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Another thing to be careful when dealing with hitboxes and bounding boxes...
Each model has both a hitbox, and a bounding box.
If something is outside of the bounding box, it will NOT be collidable, regardless of anything else.
if something is both inside the bounding box AND inside the hitbox, it will be shootable. But only then. So if you want to see where something is shootable, superimpose both bounding box AND hitbox.
AFAIK the bounding box is often set in the code, so it would be hard to tell.
A few versions ago of Counter-Strike this became very apparent, as a crouching CTs/T's head would be outside his bounding box and thus unshootable, even though there was a head hitbox.

And how close are you to them when you throw?
