This thread has become applicable to me since my brother has been bugging me about that CS:Z thing that was posted here. I have to recreate it for him. We will coop it. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Good god that mod gets horridly laggy. The code apparently just spawns zombies every few seconds not depending on how many you take out. The result? Lags like a mofo if you dont kill enough quick enough.
What about that multiplayer RE game for PS2...whatever happened to that? I think I remember a thread about Geminosity being mad at it or something...I think it fell of the face of the Earth. It could be good if any of the parts are like the opening in RE2 or parts of RE3 (kind of the feel I'm going for). Can't seem to locate a unit editor for C&C:RA2...but there's a bunch of mods so there must be one somewhere (might actually look for it on the upstairs computer if there's one around - found the level editor, at least...Cities to be made, heh).
As an aside: the modified shotgun in RE2 that Leon uses is the best anti-zombie fun to be had...it's just too bad you don't get it until the last 45 minutes or so of the game (Gatling gun is decent fun too).
Except you cant talk to your friends. No. There is no keyboard support, voice support, and no chat system. Its all done with extremely limited voice macros like "HELP" and "FOLLOW ME" with the usual "YES", "NO" and thats basically it. The style of RE maps being 2d up until that point made it easy to get lost in the game, and not being able to find your friends because of a crappy camera position and no chat system ten feet over is not fun.
The game would have been great. Keyword would have if they didnt pull the most retarded mistake and not add a chat function to an online game. Idiots totally ruined what could have been awesome.

Oh and if you love building --> building fights, just buy CnC Generals for gawd's sakes. You can even take buildings with Rangers via Chinooks - going down ropes. Thats fun.
Zombie Panic is the best of the current Valve offerings. Howdy. I'm one of the creators of the GTA Long Night zombie mod for Vice City.
Lika seems to be talking about the demo we released over a year ago, though he provided a link to the final version. We recently released the finished version, and it is more than an excuse to run around shooting people, though there is plenty of that invloved as well. Survivors gather in the last human stonghold and share tales of zombie chaos. Some of the varied objectives involve:
-Clearing out a shopping mall with the blades of an RC helicopter -Tracking down marijuana in the Police Department -Rescuing a girl from sadistic Rentacops -Defending a Twinkie factory from invading bikers -Getting your hands on insulin -Escaping a burning building -Taking over a radio station as the military -Protecting a military convoy from above as zombies and bikers attack -Escaping the city on a yacht
All in all the game's new story weighs in at twenty original missions with new cutscenes and half a dozen playable characters (including Fat Albert). Oh yeah, and 50 to 60 zombies comprised of two dozen different skins trying to rip you out of your car and turn you into dinner.
There's a trailer available showing off some of the new missions and gameplay here (requires DIVX5): <a href='http://hellfish.gtajunkies.com' target='_blank'>Long Night Trailer</a> Just click on trailer in the top left to download.
That said, here's what's currently in development: The Romero game City of the Dead looks mildly promising, though you notice the game is merely presented by Romero, which basically amounts to him taking money for the creators to attach his name to the game. Dead Rising For the 360 looks cool if Capcom can manage to make the hundreds of zombies onscreen consist of more than five models. There's a zombie strategy game in which you play as zombies taking over a city called Possesion in development for the next generation of consoloes as well. When one of them dies you simply take oer the next one. Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse also has you playing as a zombie and features some intersting twists, such as playing as just your hand to explore air ducts and solve puzzles, as well as eating people's brains to make them join you. Overall the game looks like its supposed to be more humorous than scary. There's also Bad Day LA which has American McGees name attached, but he was also originally attached to City of the Dead, so go figure. In BDLA terrorist attacks make people into zombies as planes fall from the sky and general hell breaks loose. You play as a homeless guy and the game is supposed to parody America's "fear culture" but that's all big talk for having senseless violence and a crappy Bob The Builder art style in a GTA free reign kind of game. Another Evil Dead is in the making featuring Ash fighting alongside a midget deadite. That's all of them I can think of off the top of my head, but chances are that at least a couple of them will be groovy.
If you can get a good game going of this, its fun. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> just watch out for gameplay changing plugins.

I know a good game to play which is real!, come to australia, then come to mount isa, when it becomes saturday go into the streets near the bowling alley after 6pm, and play dodge the zombie men when they attack..
seriously its real!... well tehy dont try to eat you, but they try to fight you and chase you, pretty funny considering theyre so drunk they walk like zombies, im surprised they can even stand up!

Insurmountable odds? That's zombie panic alright. At first you think it's just the zombies... then you realize your own teammates are after your shotgun <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> so if you're in trouble, they got your back. Zombies who can work together to ambush you, A small amount of guns and ammo, and team-mates who would rather see you dead so they might survive themselves. Yes, the odds are not in your favour. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Although there is something rewarding about coming back as a Zombie and successfully running down the survivor who didnt bother to cover you.
I have a sudden urge to go and buy a GTA title for the PC......... DAMN YOU!!!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The problem with Zombie Panic for me was...the terrible maps.
They're god-awful. So many exploits and they look like crap rolled out a manure processing plant. The premise isn't bad, but the maps make the gameplay terrible. Plus there's no real sense of horror or desperation when you're playing, it's just "hey, let's go where the zombies have no chance of getting to us - because we have guns!" Which would be better if there was actually a shortage of weapons or something to assist the zombies (like a warehouse...but a generator the zombies can destroy to turn out the lights, or something...these things aren't that hard to make <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> ).
The GTA mod does look nice, but it just seems like a bunch of silly missions and no real penchant for survival. Which is unfortunate, because it'd be awesome to run out of gas with 40 zombies behind you and you're running out of ammo...and such (like running into/onto a nearby building to wait for more survivors or to find a new escape route as more zombies crowd around - but I don't think the GTA engine could handle to many zombies).
