Wow their sexy
Okay. I've had Lumines since I got the system: I love it. But now I have a new love. A love that encapsulates me in ecstacy. The name is wipEout purE. And wow, its awesome. I also grabbed Metal Gear Ac!d, and am enjoying it quite a bit.

Anyone else testament to any other games? I tried Ridge Racer and didn't like it too much(the gameplay was too burnout-ish, and I don't like those physics at all).

Also, can anyone else grab that downloadable wipEout content, Gamma Pack 1? I know 2 is coming out tomorrow, but I want my new vehicle today o.o

You thought Ridge Racer was too 'Burnout-ish'?

    You make me sick, guy!

I don't like that "it turns when it wants to regardless of going 300 mph on ice" thing. Cars should act at least relatively like cars. Hell, wipEout purE is more realistic than that- you slide a ton in that. Takes getting used to.

BTW: Best feature of PSP by far is both updating, and pictures. <3 having a piccy of my g/f everywhere I go <3

By 'Burnout-ish' he means arcadey. You see, only realistic games are worth playing, because hey, anyone can just hop into their car, drive against traffic, get a turbo boost, cause an eight-million dollar crash, pop back onto the road and drive away like nothing happened.

    No beef, just joking around

EDIT: And last time I played Ridge Racer (PSX version), it did have arcadey physics.

Its not that with me at all. I just really prefer the psuedo-realism and full realism quite a bit more. Burnout 3 would have been better if they had more to do on the straightaways, and if drifting didn't feel so stupid.

Also, will, no matter what, my PSP System Info version # be 1.50? I've updated to version 1.52, but it isn't putting that 2 in there o.o

Yeah, that'll be interesting, though, I'm gonna copy over everything my PSP has on it currently to my PC so I can be sure for it to work.

Is it possible to format the MS without using the PSP interface to do so?
  • Crono5Crono5 Join Date: 2003-07-22 Member: 18357Members
Probably, but you'd need some sort of other Memory Stick device. I've got one of those 6-in-1 card readers on the HP Media Center we have (downstairs). With those, just plug 'em in, go to My Computer, right click the Memory Stick, and hit format. I've actually never tried it on Memory Stick, but I have used it with 2 other formats (I think SD and MMC...?).

Of course the original Ridge Racer had arcade physics, the pleasure you derive from the game is based around mastering it's unique powerslide system (not unlike Outrun 2's) to tame even the wildest corners.

Oh, and the race against the Devil car was fantastic on it, beating it something extremely special as a child.

That's not to say I don't love more realistic approximations of driving - I'm a sucker for Project Gotham Racing 2 - but I can still love both ends of the spectrum, can't I?

The only things I don't like about Metal Gear Ac!d are the gun system, and the fact that you can just mow everyone down. The only penalty for the former is not getting the "no kills" bonus card. (Once you get the hang of it, it's not so hard killing the guards without them being alerted, so you can still get the "not found" bonus card.) I don't like the way you have to equip most weapons, but not the FAMAS. It wouldn't be so bad if the FAMAS wasn't so damn effective for half of the game, but it is. Why use any of the other guns when you have 4 FAMAS, especially since most of them are weaker?

Apart from that, I enjoy it. I have to say, though, the plot seems to be a mix of MGS and Silent Hill. I keep expecting to see a mark of Samael around. (:

Actually, it isnt that much of a secret. It is pretty easy, although the functionality is very limited, its a neat little tool. Sony supposedly knows about it, and says that there going to release there own webbrowser "soon" for the psp.

Let's not even mention the existence of certain emulators for certain console for certain PSPs, which once refined, will allow certain people to play certain games of Chrono Trigger on a certain PSP.

Technically it isn't forbidden to talk about emulators here. Anyway there are already a bunch from Mame to GBA to GB, Sega, nes/snes, Quake 2, Duke Nukem, Heretic, DOOM.

I heard there were some kinks still to be ironed out for some games (some of the SNES ones at least). Still, awesome stuff.

Of course, it's only a matter of time before an N64 emulator happens. Imagine, Mario 64 on a handheld!

I take it the PSP has 802.11g built in to it?

If it has, then it's one less reason to buy the (currently out) DS...

Just a note - you can get a Jap import for ~£220 with a game. That's not bad, really.

    Iv got:
Smartbomb - puzzle game but it gets frustraiting and isnt that interesting.
Metal Gear AC!D - love this! its great fun.
Untold Legends - its sorta looks like Neverwinter nights but plays closer to diablo.

I plan on doing this, as I have a ripped ROM of a Chrono Trigger a friend gave me a while ago(no seriously).
