sexy.
A coworker showed me ObjectDock today. It's really slick.

If you've ever used a Mac, its kinda like the button bar in the bottom center of the screen. It's a lot more customizable though. It also takes a screenshot of a minimized app and uses that as the icon. The thing I like though is there are a freaking ton of high res icons to use that just look terrific. Even brand new games like BF2 already have an icon! :D

See example screenie attached, but you really just gotta see it in motion to appreciate it...

So it's basically the same thing you'd have on a Mac... only for Windows. And it hides Window's general crappy GUI?

    Brilliant. Original. Woohoo...

I never said it was original. I said it was sexy.

Speaking of sexy - where did you get the high-res icons?

I can't seem to find those either.

Didn't like it, no right-side box taskbar thing, so I can't get to Winamp, or Trillian, or Shareaza. But it did look very pretty.

Heh, if you want a Mac interface, check out Litestep. (Google for it, nubs.) Then you can go to DeviantArt or something and pick up an OSX theme. It doesn't have pretty hi-res icons, but I love LS. (I use the default theme, though.)

I used litestep for a while, but then stopped as i never found the exact theme/skin i wanted and was too lazy to figure out how to make it myself.

This thing supports animated icons. There aren't many of em and I dunno how they're made or what format they are, but there is a 'generic animation icon' addon thingy.

Yeah, I played with this but the free version doesn't show the system tray so you'd still need to use the windows task bar for some things.

    OH NOE.
If you're staring at the start menu then you're probably using the computer incorrectly.

    Hey! That's my job!

Well, now that you've gone and done that, I'll have to counteract it by actually being helpful. Don't you know what you're doing to me!?

    Alternatives:

YzDock - Much easier on your cpu and ram.

RKLauncher - My favorite; it has some advantages and disadvantages over YzDock, just try both.

Icon pack - much better than the one DOOManiac linked to. (make sure you check the second page, but make sure you don't click on any links labelled NSFW)

Yeah, it's very cool. I don't like the way it can make icons bigger though, I find it ugly and clumsy. I've set my icons at 19, 20 when I mouseover and with a fully translucent background and autohide.

Soon as possible I plan to buy the full version so I can say bye to the windows task bar forever
