<div class="IPBDescription">Two (okay three) of my Lerk opinions</div> Alright. ill get the one that bothers me out of the way:
Why can't Lerks turn while swooped? My bloody little finger, bless it's heart, gets tired after all that button pushing. So like, you hold down jump and swoop, but you cannot glide in different directions. You just keep on in the same direction. This is, even IF it is an alien, aerodynamically impossible. I know that its a Halflife coding thingummy, cause you see this inertia problem in all mods you play in one form or another. i was just wondering if it were possible to code this problem out. Lerks are fun, but the extra wing flapping that turns generate kills a lot of my energy and gets annoying after you crash into the wall for the nth time.
Now on to the next thing... The acceleration associated with them. You find a long hallway and flap straight forward a half dozen times and you practically fly at a hundred miles per hour. This completely rules out the need to swoop and turns the Lerk from a flying machine into a walk-speedboost-walk-speedboost alien. Methinks Lerks should be able to get airborne and stay airborne with a bit more ease.
Now for a cool, calm, collected and totally insane thought of mine:
The Lerk's spike shooter ability is the closest thing in the mod that comes to being a sniper. I know, i know, that sniping would ruin a few things but first think of this: There are hardly any open spaces with lossa cover to begin with so it ain't like it would turn into a snipefest. And im not talking one shot one kill, but instead, make the spikes a bit more powerful and only allow the Lerks to fire them while on the ground. This makes more plausible sense to me because of the need to exhale gas behind a cartilige spike with enough force to launch it like a projectile. How many of you think you could flap around and blow a dozen or so spikes out YOUR windpipe without losing your breath? The blowback from the lungtubes also makes me think it would be easier on the ground. The Lerk's melee Bite is for the fly-high-inda-guy's-face manuver anyway.
Disregard the above comment if you wish, but the ones above it are sincere.

I dont like the idea of only being able to shoot on the ground, while it would indeed be easy to justify it in the background story that doesnt mean its good. It would mean that flying is only for moving and fighting would be boring. The lerk would lose its ability to do hit and runs. Plus the reason why nails are weak is because if they were expensive theyd have to take more energy, more energy means you can no longer fly and again, no more arial combat.
A small hint for lerk, if you wanna fly easier bind your jump to the right mouse button, much easier to fly then imo (and in fact its better for jumping all round although you need a spare jump key for commanding.
I suggest trying a joystick and reconsidering your post.

The Lerk is meant to be a FLYING alien. His movement is not great at first, but once you learn it its great. When I was able to play NS, I found it entirely possible to traverse the map without banging into a wall. Look at some of the experienced players using a Lerk. The point being that he should be attacking from the air. Your suggestions (increasing strength, etc), were tried in the playtester, but in the end it just made the Lerk a weak version of the fade with the ability to jump high. I want to be able to fly overhead, swooping down corridoors, firing spikes at the marines below me. I dont want to have to camp there waiting for people to come along.
Also, questioning the physics behind a ficticious alien in a computer <b>game</b> makes me laugh very hard indeed.
Now i raise this question: Is it possible to code it so that you can change direction while swooping?
I wanna start up a LAN game with cheats and just fly around for a few hours. Good practice on flying.

[edit]if it is at all possible in half life that is [edit]
but a questiona bout the naile do they 16 dmg eac or 16 dmg a pair??? since you shoot 2 for eacy tiome you fire.... 16 for the pair sounds abit weak imo
RANT:
and 16 for each of the pair sounds quite over powerd but more like 10 per nail aka 20 per time you fire would be more balanced.....
