<div class="IPBDescription">A Trailer With Some Effort Put In</div> The makers of Max Payne (Remedy) bring you:

Alan Wake.

(Yeah, it's a name you either like or laugh at.)

Here's the trailer:

(This links to a page on FileRush.com - not to the actual file!)
Bit-Torrent for the win.

I originally only downloaded this because I wanted to test out my new 2 meg line on a torrent site. None of the other files took my fancy so I went for this trailer... and was glad I did.

For once, it's a trailer that focus's on the games visuals, characters and storyline. None of that "lets blow as much crap up as possible!" you see in so many trailers now-a-days.

I was impressed.

Thoughts, opinions, banana's?

Looks fantastic, yes, but did you miss it at E3 or something?

I can see Remedy will be playing mind games with us again. Protagonist is A. Wake, light is his ally and darkness seemingly knocks him out, and the narrative takes place in a place called Pride Falls. No coincedence, surely.

so he's already dead if they're having A. Wake?
  • AlienCowAlienCow Join Date: 2003-09-20 Member: 21040Members
Yes, Max Payne was much better. It was humorous and tough.

But then I had no idea what kind of game this was when I had just read the name Alan Wake. Sounded like a pretty boring name. Now it seems to fit better for some reason, it could be the wake thing. Looks very good though.

The first thing that caught my eye:

Excellent realtime lighting and the whole sun simulation thing.

    Only flaw I could see:

When doing the camera flyby in the beginning over the valley, the tree meshes were especially low poly, and seemed to have varied lighting with different LODs.

'Tis a very small flaw. Looks like an excellent game.

neon, if you were running it with winamp, you'll see the lagging. If you use win media player you won't. Winamp has problems with large wmvs for som reason.

No, i was using windows media originally, but it kind of 'jerked' at some points, so then i tried VCL and it was a little bit better, honestly though it only happened twice, during the beginning, at least with VCL.

I had the same problem with that massive Halo2 trailer that was released online ages ago, you know, the one with the 4000-odd kilobyte stream? during play? yeah, only this Alan Wake trailer was much less-lag filled.
